1216playboy_article-420x539.jpgMexico’s Playboy magazine decided that December, the same month that it’s own Virgen de Guadalupe is honored, the same month that people all over the world celebrate the biblical story of a virgin birthing a messiah, would be a great time to put a naked mujer posing like the Virgen Maria on it’s cover.

Claro, it’s Playboy, not a magazine known for taste or respect except when compared to Penthouse, for example, and it’s pretty obvious that this was a stunt meant to get attention and stir things up. What interests me is the why people are so mad.

Virgin Mary Makes Another Appearance

4:11 pm By Maegan La Mala · Bizarro|New Mexico|Religion · Comments Off

14952374_240X180.jpg2007 was a good year for Virgin Mary apparitions. In February we got a really good one — I’d say the best of the year — when Nuestra Señora appeared on a baking pan in Houston. Then in March, she was at the border crying bloody tears. Her third (and we thought final) appearance happened on a lemon slice, again in Texas.

Now reports are in that she made another appearance on a wall in New Mexico on Christmas Eve:”

He noticed an image there. He said, ‘That looks like an image of the Virgin Mary,’” Quintana said.

She said the image appeared during a home construction mishap. Quintana said her husband was putting a special texture on the wall. The spray bottle he was using broke twice, which meant the texture couldn’t be wiped off fast enough. This is how it dried.

The family graced by Mary’s presence says they have no plans for changing the wall. I wonder what the price of admission will be.

14158448.jpgBack in March, the Virgin Mary made an appearance on a baking pan in Houston. Then she was at it again on the border, crying some bloody tears. Now she’s at it again, making her presence known yet again on — of all things — a lemon slice:

A Texas man said he has spotted the face of the Virgin Mary on a lemon slice.

Marty Nance of Watauga, Texas, spotted the face earlier this week while he was cutting the lemon at his father’s bar.

However, where Nance sees the Virgin Mary, others in the bar are seeing other faces.

Nuestra Señora Likes to Bake

virgin.jpgEvery so often the Virgin Mary will make an appearance. Very often these appearances happen in Latino neighborhoods where the Catholic faith is strong. The latest Virgin sighting went down in a baking pan in Houston, Texas.

On Feb. 23, 2007. Guadalupe Rodriguez, a cafeteria worker at Pugh Elementary on the East Side, not pictured, discovered the image while cleaning the dishes from lunch on Ash Wednesday. The cooking sheet is now on display in the front yard of a home a few blocks away from the school, with numerous visitors coming to see the image.

I believe in miracles pero I don’t really know if I buy this or many of the other Virgin Mary sightings featured on ABC. Just call me Mala, lapsed Catholic of little faith.
