6 Jul 2010I’m actually looking forward to a break from all the heavy politics of life and this week I have to thank the Latin Alternative Music Conference, which kicks off today with panels and concerts all over NYC.
Tonight, at 7:30 p.m. (Doors open at 6:30 p.m) Broadcast Music, Inc (BMI) is holding its annual “Verano Alternativo” Showcase at S.O.B’s with featured performer Manhattan-bred Maluca. Put your rolos on ladies.
Other performers include Punto G NYC, Maria Isa, and Bachaco.

Last night, as part of the Latin Alternative Music Conference excitement, BMI showcased a diverse range of Latino musical artists at Verano Alternativo, held inside S.O.B’s.
I arrived a little late, so apologies to LapDance, a new-wave indie electronic Rican band, and the Dominican, Marel.
The first band I did get to see was Origen, a rock band that leans towards the fun and jaunty pop sound. Fronted by the energetic and charismatic mujer Mirs, this is the type of music that I could totally see my older daughter getting excited about, as sort of a gateway drug into rock in español.
VivirLatino is a daily publication published by Mamita Mala Media, dedicated to featuring all the latest politics, culture, entertainment of interest to the diverse Latin@ diaspora.
