22 Oct 2008You know, one of the first ‘rules’ I ever got from my university advisor on how to work job applications was to sit and read the advertisement really closely before you work through the application. That way you could be extra sure that you had the skills that the employer was looking for, but also so that you could mold your resume around the requirements of the job.
My advisor told me, there’s nothing that will get a job application thrown in the garbage faster than an application where the applicant clearly isn’t really even all that sure about what job it is they are applying for.
Which brings me to this lovely clip:
Er…since when was the VP post all about monitoring and rubber necking Congress? I wonder if McCain just told her that so that he could keep her away from his White House should he win?

Despite Alaskan governor’s excellent record, the Republican National Committee felt that Sarah Palin needed a fashion makeover at a cost of more than $150,000.
The Republican National Committee appears to have spent more than $150,000 to clothe and accessorize vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family since her surprise pick by John McCain in late August.According to financial disclosure records, the accessorizing began in early September and included bills from Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York for a combined $49,425.74.
The records also document a couple of big-time shopping trips to Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, including one $75,062.63 spree in early September.

20 Oct 2008I’m almost ashamed to say that la Mala can’t usually stay up to watch Saturday Night Live, live. Pero thanks to the magic of the internet, I can watch it anytime including this past weekend that featured the real Sarah Palin, mostly as a prop, kind of like her role in the actual presidential race!

13 Oct 2008Peep the people booing, thumbs down, and Obama signs in the background. I feel bad for the Palin kids pero not for Sarah Palin. I mean did she seriously think peeps would give her a warm welcome? This ain’t no McCain rally.

7 Oct 2008Is the way Sarah Palin speaks related to her upbringing? Her class? her education? Her race? Is it cute? Does it appeal to you or or your neighbor? Does it make you feel like she is like you?

3 Oct 2008If we were to make a list of the issues raised in last night’s Vice Presidential debate we would have:
health care
taxes
bailout
Iraq
Iran
Pakistan
Energy
gay marriage
Hmm what’s missing? Only the stories of countless people. Only what is whispered in the barrios: the fear, the constant watching of your back. What’s the word? Oh yeah, immigration.

3 Oct 2008So far we’ve only had two presidential debates, and already tired of them. Sarah Palin’s performance yesterday wasn’t as bad as many expected/hoped. Pero her attempts to be cute just annoy me in the same way the other mothers at my daughter’s school annoy me with their fake ass ways.
Did you watch the debate last night? What did you think.

While everyone (myself included) VP debate drinking games, the U.S. federal government and ICE hope that their continued acts of terrorism against immigrant communities fly beneath the radar.
In a week’s time, ICE arrested 78 people in Pennsylvania and Delaware. The media is playing up the fact that some of those arrested had criminal records and in an effort to stir up fear, called an emergency meeting in the communities where the arrests happening.
The emergency of immigrant familias?

For more fun, follow @mamitamala as well.
Pero even if you don’t follow the debate party online, Sarah Palin and Joe Biden, certainly will have us all watching. Will Biden say something stupid or racist? Will Palin mention hockey moms and seeing Russia from her house? Ay we can only hope so. We will have some analysis post debate (or the morning after depending on how the drinking game goes). In the meantime ponder this:
