2 Sep 2008

Today is Salma Hayek’s birthday! My siren goddess is 42 years beautiful, and promising to only grow more goddess like this year. As a special gift to us all, Salma forwarded me a photo of her new bathing suit. I have to say I’m a fan of stripes, aren’t you?

Salma and Sami: In Trouble.

La Mala sent me the latest news about my girl, Salma–and it’s not looking so good. It appears that Salma and her brother are being sued by a former employee. Something about ‘wrongfully seeking his removal’ and ‘abuse of authority.’ My reaction to the news? Salma has a brother? ::wide naughty smile::

Salma Hayek : Que Mamota!

Salma.jpgIf Mexican actress/producer Salma Hayek looks like she’s been putting on some weight, it’s because she has, baby weight. Through her publicist, Salma confirmed that she is with child and engaged to the baby’s daddy. And who is the proud papi? An uber wealthy Frenchman by the name of Francois-Henri Pinault who is CEO of the parent company of such luxe brands like Gucci.

Felicidades Salma! If that baby looks anything like you, that will be one beautiful bebe.

Salma Hayek and Pedro Infante perfect mates

11:38 am By Jennifer Woodard Maderazo · Celebrities|mexico|Newspapers · Comments Off

15 Feb 2007

salma_hayek.jpgSalma Hayek and the late, great Pedro Infante were the answers to the question “like what famous person would you like your partner to be?” asked by Mexican newspaper Reforma.

22 percent of Mexican men ranked Salma as their first choice, followed by actress Ana Claudia Talancón and Angelina Jolie.

25 percent of women said the legendary Pedro Infante (which seems strange to me, since he’s been dead for 50 years…it goes to show how much his image is imbedded in the Mexican psyche) was the best model for a mate, followed by Brad Pitt, then Gael García Bernal.PedroInfante016.jpg

The Valentine’s Day survey also revealed some age-old truths about men and women:

For 85% of women, the ideal mate must be the same age or older. Only 5% of women prefer younger men.

On the contrary, only 8% of men want an older mate. 19% want a younger woman and 58% the same age.

Penelope Cruz helps spread lesbian rumors

8:38 pm By Jennifer Woodard Maderazo · Celebrities|Chismes|GLBT · 3 Comments

21 Dec 2006

cruz.hayek.032105.jpgWhile the fantasy of hotties Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz being lovers might inhabit the mind of every man in the Western Hemisphere, Penelope herself says that it’s all just a publicity stunt. Apparently she has fomented the rumors herself by acting extra cozy with her Mexican friend:

Penelope Cruz claims she knows why those lesbian rumors refuse to die. The “Vanilla Sky” actress, who has long been the subject of speculation about her sexuality, says she helped keep them going.

Cruz has been friends with Salma Hayek since she came to the U.S. from Spain about seven years ago. There friendship started a buzz, which grew a lot louder when she groped her friend’s behind at a press conference while the two were promoting their film “Banditas.”

“I grabbed Salma’s ass just to keep things moving, because everyone was a little slow,” Cruz said while promoting her new film “Volver” reports Australia’s Courier Mail. “And, of course, the energy changed when I did that.”

I guess Salma are the Latina Oprah and Gail, the girls with the friendship no one understands.

Salma hearts Penelope

12:17 pm By Jennifer Woodard Maderazo · Celebrities|Chismes|Events · Comments Off

3 Nov 2006

526537_tn.jpgWell, I wasn’t fully able to fulfill my promise to report on Salma Hayek‘s appearance on Ugly Betty last night. A little thing called the Latin Grammys got in the way. I was, however, able to see what must have been the “big” scene of the episode: Salma with no underwear on standing on Eric Mabius’ shoulders. But that’s all I can tell you, other than she looked beautiful (big surprise).

Salma has been up to other stuff, though. She appeared at a Hollywood screening of her homey Penelope Cruz‘s new film, Almodovar’s Volver, where she gushed over the Spanish actress during a tribute program for Pe:

Salma Hayek, after giving her friend a huge hug, began to cry as she described her as “a fairy that is not of this world because these qualities are only seen on the screen, and it’s there where she feels more comfortable.”

Salma, joined in the audience by celebrities (including Prince) and Penelope’s family, couldn’t stop gushing:

Everyone was quiet except the Mexican actress, who opened her mouth to announce to the public that “today you will see the best of Cruz.” And “because Penelope is genius when she speaks but when Pedro writes what she says, she sounds more than ever like herself,” said Hayek, with pride.

5 Oct 2006

Ugly%20Betty.jpgTonight is Ugly Betty night on ABC and if the numbers from last week’s premiere of the show, produced by Salma Hayek, were any indication, millions will be tuning in. 16.3 million people tuned to ABC to watch America Ferrera play Betty Suarez. I know I’ll be watching.

Oh and if you wanna dress like Betty Suarez you can start by wearing her signature “B” necklace, available online at ETS Shopping for the low price of $172.

salma_hayek.jpgName: Salma Hayek Jimenez
Age: 39

Occupation: Actress and Producer

Place of Residence: Los Angeles

Bio: From Wikipedia: “Hayek was born in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico to a Lebanese father and a Mexican mother. Raised in a wealthy, devoutly Catholic family, she was sent to the Academy of the Sacred Heart, Grand Coteau Louisiana, at the age of 12. She was also an accomplished gymnast, with aspirations of becoming an Olympic competitor.

After leaving the school due to alleged behavioral problems with the religious sisters who ran the school, Hayek returned to Mexico for a period, but then she was sent to Houston, Texas, to live with her aunt, where she stayed until she was 17. She subsequently moved to Mexico City for college, where she studied International Relations. To the chagrin of her family, she decided to drop out in order to pursue a career as an actress.”
