9 Jun 2010I had no idea that my baby was afreed of a little snake. Ok, big snake. During an interview for Extra, Salma (who is apparently in the middle of jungle land somewhere) had a major freak out over a snake sighting. Video below.
At first I thought she was being all cute and femme, like my girl is want to do, but towards the end, you can see she’s near hysterical and sounds like she’s either in tears or close to it. Sigh–even Superman had his Kryptonite.
I know I would’a done a better job at protecting her than the whimpy dude who carried her away. I would’ve even let her cry on my shoulder. I can be very sympathetic and loving when I want to be.

My Salmita is apparently starting a new food “diet” collection–operating under the belief that your kidney’s and liver are not good enough “cleaners” of the body, her food line will act as the ultimate cleanser:
Her product, Cooler Cleanse, comes in 5 gut-busting flavors — a green juice, a grapefruit mint, a red juice with beets and apples, young coconut water, and nut milk sweetened with dates.
Salma had us at “hydraulic” — problem is … the diet will run you $58 a day.
Mmmhm. My advice to you? Eat an 50 cent orange while admiring a picture of Salma on the internet. It’s what I am doing.

27 Jan 2010Several of my friends on Twitter have shared that ABC is canceling Ugly Betty and this season, number 4, is going to be the last season. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m pretty devestated. When they moved the television show from Thursday to other evenings I knew there was some trouble brewing.
It was not that long ago that we lost The George Lopez Show, one of the ONLY US national television shows (on a non cable network for folks like me without cable. That conversion has left me with only receiving 3 channels with my rabbit ear antenneas), that showed the Latino family. I don’t even want to think about what was before this show because I’m almost positive it was Chico and the Man. Ugly Betty has filled a part of that void for so many of us.
I just keep remembering I grew up with A Different World, seeing young people of Color who looked like me going to college and graduating. It really formed my perspective of what I can accomplish. It is possible for some Latinos today that Ugly Betty may have done the same: helped someone cope with the passing of the matriarch in their family, help us re-examine how we treat one another, recognize the discrimination many of us face in the workplace, and how to forge and maintain relationships.
Heavy traveling is finally done! I am back from the Allied Media Conference in Detroit, Michigan. I got some rest, some family time, and some time to catch up. I am still incredibly tired though, and I have to say, I really admire the shit out of la mala–that woman is a working machine. Kids hanging off her shoulder, food on the stove, three phones ringing, two workshops to run, and she still has the time to be pleasant and relaxed with her fellow bloggers!!!
It was a really great experience–I was especially thrilled by the Zapatista press conference (which I live blogged here). There is so much grassroots radical ground work going on–I just don’t even know what to do with the hope and inspiration it filled in me.
Like mala, I’ll be blogging about it. But for now…a picture of my Salmita, who I’ve neglected in the frenzy of summer. Pobrecita.
How I wish I was a Campari bottle at the moment.
As bad news just keeps pouring in (don’t even ask me about why my car can’t seem to break down with some 50$ problem instead of some 2000$ problem), the only thing I want to think about any more s hot women. And what other hot woman in the world could possibly comfort me more than my darling Salmita?

Salma’s decided to rub my nose in it and reaffirm her heterosexual tendencies and marry the same man not just once, but *twice*…which frankly, makes me more than a tad irritated. But if she makes another movie where she rolls around naked with other naked women–all will be forgiven. I swear.
When the news gets too depressing for me, I always feel like I can cruise stories about my Salmita to feel better.
Sigh.
Turns out Salma’s life is pretty darn depressing as well.
Mexican actress Salma Hayek’s billionaire husband Francois-Henri Pinault was held hostage in his car Wednesday by his staff who were angered over 1,200 job cuts at two of his stores.
Mirror online reports, Pinault, 46, the boss of retail empire PPR which owns Gucci shops, was held for an hour by 50 staff members after a meeting in Paris until freed by riot police.
Pinault, who married Hayek, 42, six weeks ago, was the fifth “boss-napping” victim in a month. The union said: “We wanted talks to save jobs.”
Now, as a firm lover of the unions, I have to say, I’m sorta snickering at this. And it, honestly, sorta cheered me up.
As a Salma lover, however, I know that this probably frightened her, and as such, I must tell the unions to cool it.
Union solidarity rocks, just don’t get in the way of my fantasizing.
Ai, it’s been such a long time since I’ve had the opportunity to ogle and hump over the latest picture/words of my Salmita. This comes at just the right time.

The Mexican actress, famed for her curvy figure, used to be flat-chested when she was younger and regularly prayed for a bigger bust.
She even put her hands in holy water to try and make a miracle happen.
She said: “My mother and I stopped at a church during a road trip we were making from our home in Mexico.
“When we went inside the church, I prayed for the miracle that I wanted to happen. I put my hands in holy water and said, ‘Please God, give me some breasts!’”
It’s so wonderful how connected Salma and la Macha really are–I’ve actually prayed the same thing! Although it must be admitted, the praying happened under different circumstances (that’s all I think you need to know for now! :->).
May God always answer our prayers in such a blessed way.
Amen.

And a very high-profile one at that. French Minister of Justice, Rachida Dati, has been keeping the identity of her baby daddy secret ever since she started showing, and since then rumors have been flying left and right as to who the papi is. The tabloid press swore that it was none other than French president Sarkozy, while others claimed it was Spanish president José María Aznar, as Dati remained tight-lipped. But now the press seems to believe they’ve solved the puzzle: the dad is Salma Hayek’s ex, Francois-Henri Pinault. Wowza!
Even though there had been little linking the pair, she confided: “I’m fed up with the rumours – during the whole summer they said that I was with Francois-Henri Pinault.”A fortnight later, during a lunch between female government ministers organised by Interior Minister Michele Alliot-Marie, she added: “The father travels a lot.”
At the time, Mr Pinault was flying regularly from Paris to the States to see baby daughter Valentina, who lives with Hollywood star mum Salma.
OK, that sounds like a lame piece of proof. But this is a bit more juicy:

It was with so much joy that I found out one of my favorite Latin@ bloggers, Bianca Laureano got her photo taken for the amazing project: Adipositivity. According to the website, Adipositivity is:
The Adipositivity Project aims to promote size acceptance, not by listing the merits of big people, or detailing examples of excellence (these things are easily seen all around us), but rather, through a visual display of fat physicality. The sort that’s normally unseen.
The hope is to widen definitions of physical beauty. Literally.
My favorite thing about this project is how many of us Latin@s ever are represented outside of a Jennifer Lopez, Eva Mendes or even (my honey) Salma Hayek ideal? We all know that there’s beauty in those ideals–but most of us Latin@s are beautiful in ways that do not conform to Hollywood extremes. I love that Bianca represents a Latin@ ideal–and I highly recommend all VLatin@s make it over to the website to enjoy the rest of the Adipositivity project!
