lamcblackweb1 Ay finally you can smell, taste, feel and hear verano in the air. Part of the NYC summer sound landscape is the Latin Alternative Music Conference.

You’ll remember that last year yours truly covered the LAMC and even was on a panel. This year I don’t think I’m attending the actual conference pero you can be sure that I am gonna hit some of the culo shaking shows.

Monday Musica : Preview of Circo’s September Release

September is looking like a hot month in terms of musica, with many artists dropping new albums. Add Circo to the list of groups, they are scheduled to release Cursi September 18. Last Thursday the band released the first single, “Antes del Fin” (Before the End) from their upcoming album. A mi me gusta. Check it out here. For more on Circo check out their MySpace.

Soda Stereo Ready to Reunite?

hola%20soda.jpg The Argentinian pioneers of the rock en Spanish movement, Soda Stereo, may be gearing up for a reunion to mark the 10 years since they broke up. According to the NY Daily News, it was award winning Gustavo Cerati who first began speculation about a reunion. Then Héctor (Zeta) Bosio, the bass-player and co-founder of the trio said:

“This year is the 10th anniversary and it’s a key moment,” he says. “At times I thought that our music was superficial, but after 10 years I’ve realized that we introduced rock to a generation.”

And for us Latinos in the U.S. they taught us that rock in our own language could be cool. I hope they pull it together for a reunion, I’d travel anywhere for that.

Atercipelados say Oye!

Oye%21.jpg They haven’t had a studio album as a band in 5 years. Is anyone else as excited as I am about the Aterciopelados‘ upcoming album Oye!? The album is scheduled to be released on October 24th. That’s also when the band is set to begin a tour in Spain. You can get a sneak preview of the album, specifically the single Complemento on the band’s MySpace page.
