It was only a matter of time before someone tried to make a little baby reggaetonero. Something is a little scary and a liitle cute about this kid. The bling bling is scary as are the backup dancers but he’s a little kid! So he’s cute. You also have to love his suggestion at locking up all the rival reggaetoneros in a room to work out their drama.

Tego Calderon and I have something in common: neither of us can get through an entire Reggaeton album. What’s ironic is that “El Abayarde” is considered one of the giants of the genre. Still, in an interview with Spain’s 20 Minutos, Calderon reveals that Reggaeton isn’t his favorite type of music:
“I really like music with a message, with meaning, that shows that you sat down and racked your brain to write it.”

Responding to the controversy that just won’t die — the Imus in the Morning scandal — hip hop mogul Russell Simmons says he agrees with those who say that rap and hip hop music is just as guilty of degrading women and glorifying racial epithets against blacks as the comments made by the shock jock. Concretely, he believes that the music industry would do well to eliminate three words from its vernacular:
Expressing concern about the “growing public outrage” over the use of such words in rap lyrics, Simmons said the words “bitch,” “ho” and “nigger” should be considered “extreme curse words.”

I don’t exactly if he smells good or bad but hopefully good enough to make his new venture a success. Daddy Yankee, el gran papi of Reggaeton is planning on launching his own men’s fragrance. Let’s just hope he doesn’t call it Gasolina.

Grammy award-winning Calle 13 is looking to sue Hugo Chavez’s rival for the presidency of Venezuela, Manuel Rosales. According to the reggaeton stars, Rosales used their song “Atrévete-te” without their permission during his campaign events:
“The use [of the song] may lead to serious legal consequences for whomever is using it,” the group’s attorney Juan Dalmau told Puerto Rican daily “El Nuevo Día” in today’s issue.“Calle 13’s position is clear: cease and desist,” said the attorney, who also sent a message to the Venezuelan consulate in Puerto Ricos stating the position of the group and its representatives.
Meanwhile, Rosales’ PR guy is biting back, saying that the song was “inspired” by the Calle 13 hit but isn’t the same, and adds that the song was performed by Venezuelan musicians.
