Seriously, people are taking the RBD thing too far. It was bad enough they had to exist in the first place, make a bad novela and market products with the novela. We thought it was over, but like a bad horror movie, RBD refuses to die! There was already one world wide RBD march, in an attempt to save the band, pero ahora there has been a call for a second RBD world wide march to take place on October 4th.
Put us or this “band” out of misery.

Because apparently, there aren’t enough issues for young people in the world today to be passionate about and hit the streets over, at least one member of the Mexican pop group, RBD, that announced its breakup, is going down with a fight. Anahi wrote to her fans:
Quiero pedirle a todos los fans que por favor no nos dejen solos. Estoy bien loca, porque en el foro de la página oficial ya les dije que hagamos una marcha mundial y me regañaron, que por qué ando haciendo cosas así.

15 Aug 2008This just in: Perez Hilton has let me on to what might be the best news I’ve heard all week. It seems that RBD, a.k.a. a good way to make Jen randomly lash out in rage at innocent bystanders, is retiring. From their official statement:
R.I.P., RBD. You were excellent fodder for some of the most widely read posts on VL. Thanks to you, we’ve received countless pieces of hate mail over the past 3 years from your adoring (albeit deranged and somewhat illiterate) fans.
I can’t wait to see what each of the band members has in store for us with their solo careers!

Anahi , the way too skinny RBD blonde wants to show that she is way more than a talented singer and actress. She’s following in the footsteps of fellow RBD’ers Christopher and Dulce Maria.
One thing we’re a little uncomfortable with, is the fact that both Christopher and Dulce Maria announced that they were coming out with books before Anahi did, yet she is making sure hers comes out before theirs. Obviously smart, but pretty cold if you ask us.
Oh just in time for back to school.

Christian Chávez, the recently-outed member of bubble gum pop group RBD says he’s so in love with his husband — whom he wed in a ceremony in Canada — that he’s already thinking about having kids. Christian told People en español:
“When I’m 30 that feeling of wanting to be a dad is going to start…I would like to adopt because I think there are so many children that need love. Instead of creating one, we’re going to get a baby to whom we can give all our love and an opportunity.”
And if Mexico continues on the liberal track it’s on, he might just be able to do that in his home country one day soon.

24 May 2007In an event that could very well have me teetering between life and death as a result of an overdose of cheesiness, Mexican bubble gum pop superstars RBD will be performing at the cheesefest known as Miss Universe, this year taking place in Mexico City:
The Miss Universe Organization announced today that Mexican singing sensation RBD will perform three songs from their award winning album Rebelde during the two-hour LIVE telecast which will simulcast on NBC and Telemundo on May 28, 2007 at 9:00 p.m. ET/delayed PT.
The six young charismatic vocalists that power RBD – Anahi, Dulce Maria, Maite, Christopher, Christian and Alfonso “Poncho” will perform at the National Auditorium and sing their hit songs “Money Money,” “Carino Mio” and “Wanna Play.”
Not sure you can take it? Try viewing the video above and if you can get through it, you’re safe to catch the competition on Monday night. Hopefully no one will faint.

5 Apr 2007While speculation continues about his own sexual orientation ( I mean really though when you’re that hot does it really matter), Ricky Martin is throwing his support behind other Latino musicians who choose to disclose their sexual preferences, specifically Christian of RBD.
“Life is too short to live closed up, guarding what you say,” said Martin _ whose sexual orientation has been the subject of speculation _ in an interview with The Associated Press. Christian “has to be free in many aspects. I wish him much strength.”
Who ever is sleeping in Ricky’s bed is one lucky person. I mean just look at him move.

Yesterday Mala gave props to RBD’s Christian Chavez for coming out of the closet, in spite of the backlash that this announcement could possibly generate. Now Christian is giving props of this own — to his fans. At a concert in Texas, Christian thanked them for supporting him no matter what:
“I love you with all of my heart. You’ve made my dreams come true and made me the happiest person in the world. Orientation doesn’t matter, what matters is love. Thank you so much,” said the artist as the audience applauded. At that moment the rest of the members of the group came out onto the stage to hug the singer.
That’s good, as I was actually wondering if the rest of them were like “oh, crap” when this news leaked.
I really still cannot stand RBD, but yes, it’s great that he came forward instead of just avoiding the question like so many other stars (ajemRickycoughcoughMartin) do. I wonder if this will push any of the countless other gay stars in Mexico (men and women) out of the closet?

I’ll admit that I’ve been quite critical of the Mexican pop-tart group RBD, their music and their marketing but my mouth dropped open this morning at reading this news:
Christian Chavez, 23, of Mexican pop group RBD, announced Thursday on the group’s Web site, www.grupo-rbd.com, that he is gay. He says the recent release of compromising photos of him pushed him to come out. He wrote: “Although I’m scared and filled with uncertainty, I know that I can rely on the support of my fans, their love is bigger than all of this. I ask them from the bottom of my heart not to judge me for being honest and to feel proud of who they are and never make the same mistake I did.”
I have to give Christian props for coming out, regardless of the circumstances. What remains to be seen is how fans and parents of fans will react to the news. Will there be a RBD homophobic backlash?
