kinkyalbum.jpgIt’s only fitting that with summer unofficially over, we here at VivirLatino start the back to school season teaming up with the Mexican rock electronico (but really they defy classification) band Kinky. To celebrate today’s release of Kinky’s latest album, Reina, VivirLatino is giving away 5 Kinky posters to the first five VL readers who comment after this post with valid emails. We will contact the first five and hook them up with the lovely posters featuring the Kinky chicos.

Stay tuned for my review today of the album Reina.

Big props to Nettwerk Music for hooking VL and its readers up.

Check out more of Kinky at their official website.

ricky.jpg I know we’re already in January but the December issue of Blender magazine and the interview with Ricky Martin inside begs to be written about. While arguably the most famous former Menudo, Ricky Martin has been tight lipped about his sex life and the rumors of what gender (or genders) he likes to share his sex life with. The recent issue of Blender doesn’t reveal Ricky’s sexual preference but it does reveal some other um interesting activities proving that maybe he is indeed livin’ la vida loca. According to the interview he engages in booty calls, one night stands, porn, golden showers, and video taping his sexual encounters. Súbete a Mi Moto indeed!

Juan.gif I peeped this on Univision’s Primer Impacto, yesterday afternoon. It seems that Juan Gabriel is maintaining his sense of humor as he recuperates from the infamous fall he took in November of last year. Juan Gabriel’s website now features a Flash Player version of the story of his fall and his subsequent recuperation, designed by Alberto Aguilera. It’s not to be missed by fans of Juan Gabriel. See it at JuanGabriel.com

Panty Shoppers and Panty Watchers Love Ricky

2005-1109_ricky.jpg It may have been the best part of Tuesday night’s televised Victoria’s Secret fashion show. Ricky Martin, the former Menudo turned crossover Latino singer, sang a single from his new album Life , titled Drop It On Me while dancers in their underwear surrounded him. The single is a typical Ricky Martin crossover English language song but this time with a reggaeton beat. The only good thing about the performance was that he looked good.

Ricky Doesn’t Care

ricky.jpg" After a long hiatus from the music scene Ricky Martin is back but is he better? The first track off his Life album to be released worldwide on October 11 is I Don’t Care. Here Ricky sings in English with an urban hip hop/R&B beat. The track features R&B diva Amerie and Bronx Rican rapper Fat Joe. He’s definitely trying to appeal to a young urban audience. Maybe he feels he needs to compete with Daddy Yankee who is actually featured on the album as well?

Ricky also has a new look to go with his crossover sound. His hair is cut, he’s got tats, and he looks like he needs a shave.

Personally the new look and sound doesn’t do a thing for this VivirLatino editor. There’s no doubt the Boricua singer is still beautiful and sexy but come on, he’s no thug. The fact that he has Fat Joe on the new single calling a woman a slut and a ho doesn’t add to Ricky’s street cred. In fact it lessens his credibility, making it seem like he’d do anything to stay on the top of the charts and sell cd’s. Ricky, vuelve with what you do best then I’ll reach into my wallet and buy what you’re selling.
