Shakira leads MTV Music Awards Nominees

Colombiana pop star and nominee for VivirLatino’s Most Influential Latino 2006 Shakira is getting some other award nods, this time from the MTV Music Awards. People Magazine reports that Shaki leads the list (along with The Red Hot Chili Peppers) with 7 nominations.
MTV announced its nominees for the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards on Monday, with Shakira and the Red Hot Chili Peppers leading the list with seven nominations each.Both will compete for video of the year – the Peppers’ “Dani California” and Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie” will go up against Christina Aguilera’s “Ain’t No Other Man,” Madonna’s “Hung Up” and Panic! At The Disco’s “I Write Sins Not Tragedies.”
The MTV Music Awards air at 8:00 pm ET on August 31, on MTV.
