Wow, I basically saw this one coming yesterday, word for pathetic word:
Former Miss California USA Carrie Prejean says she lost her crown because of a comment she made about gay marriage and not because she had been skipping appearances.
Prejean told Matt Lauer on NBC’S “Today” show Friday that she “absolutely” had been dethroned because of the comment, when she said marriage should be between a man and a woman.
Nice try, Carrie. But in another captivating display of my psychic prediction powers, pageant officials are saying exactly what I predicted yesterday: you couldn’t keep your commitments because you were too busy making anti-gay marriage appearances for the Evangelicals. And having hangovers.
We called it the story that wouldn’t die, and apparently it still hasn’t. Miss California, Carrie Prejean – that bastion of morality and American values — has been stripped of her crown, after originally keeping it after a photo scandal. This time it’s not because of her liberal ways with her blouses but for something a lot less sexy – for slacking off. CNN reports:
Carrie Prejean has been dethroned as Miss California USA for “contract violations,” including missing scheduled pageant events, according to a state pageant official.
Prejean, 22, retained her title last month despite a controversy over topless photos, missed appearances and her statements against same-sex marriage.
Miss USA pageant owner Donald Trump decided to fire Prejean a month after he gave her a second chance.
“Carrie is a beautiful young woman, and I wish her well as she pursues her other interests,” Trump said.
Tami Farrell, Miss Malibu, will assume Prejean’s title and assume the responsibilities she apparently wasn’t able to be bothered with. Pageant officials say she violated her contract because she was unwilling to make appearance on behalf of the pageant.
Well, folks, it turns out that gay marriage opponent and Miss America loser Miss California, Carrie Prejean, isn’t getting her just desserts. The Miss America pageant’s owner and worst hairstyle-haver in the world, Donald Trump, did what was not done for Vanessa Williams: he let her keep her role as Miss America, saying the images weren’t racy enough to warrant her dethroning.
Nice hypocrisy there, Donald. Shanna Moakler, reality TV star, former Miss USA and the head of the pageant isn’t happy with that decision and has stepped down as a result of it:
“I cannot with a clear conscience move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe Organization when I no longer believe in it, or the contracts I signed committing myself as a youth,” Moakler said.
“I want to be a role model for young women with high hopes of pageantry, but now feel it more important to be a role model for my children. I am sorry and hope I have not let any young supporters down but wish them the best of luck in fulfilling their dreams,” she said.
CNN reports that Carrie Prejean claims that the last of the photos, published just before the decision, were
made without her knowledge during a modeling photo shoot. She said wind must have accidentally blown her unbuttoned top open.
Carrie must think all Americans are as dumb as she is if she believes we’ll buy that.
Yesterday La Macha told us about the apparent hypocrisy of Miss California Carrie Prejean – defender of American moral values — upon the revelation that she had posed nude. Now the firestorm against the beauty queen and 1st runner up for Miss America is getting stronger, as The HuffPost reports that yet another nude photo has leaked to press and that Carrie may have to give up her crown as a result of the scandal:
A second topless photo of Miss California Carrie Prejean has been released by TheDirty.com, days after Prejean promised the state pageant that there was only one such photo in existence. [...]
Back to the crown drama. On Wednesday Prejean’s runner-up Miss Malibu told “Access Hollywood’s” Billy Bush she is ready to step in should Prejean lose her crown because of a morality clause in the pageant contract contestants sign that promises they have no nude or semi-nude photos in their past.
Miss California, of the “gays can’t marry” infamy, just won’t go away. After lecturing the world on how God made marriage for a man and a woman, it has now been discovered that Miss California has semi-nude pictures floating around–oh, and those pictures are of her.
Now, I’m the very last person to sit judgment on women taking any type of pictures of herself. In fact, the reason I personally think the various beauty pageants out there are bullshit and deserve to be closed down is because of how they blatantly insinuate that virginity is what makes a woman beautiful. They play on the belief that a woman should be a virgin until she finds the right man–and then she should be a whore. Just for him.
So I sit no judgment on Miss California posing for pictures. BUT–I do wonder at the hypocrisy of a woman who poses semi-nude, prances around in front of huge audiences (which include men) half naked, gets breast implants (to be more alluring to men?), and also manages to say it’s against God’s will for gays to marry.
When did God say it was ok for women to be running around half naked with the object of giving men hard ons so the women can be dubbed most beautiful?
A little consistency might make me take Miss California more seriously.
Who does marriage need protecting from? Yes, haters you can say mujeres like me, pero I’m really talking about the scary gays who now have to fight off California beauty queens.
You have to love how Prejean says it’s all about respect. Hmm. Now mira I do not think it’s cool in any way to call Prejean a bitch or to make jokes about killing her. That’s not acceptable y punto. Pero, that said, where Prejean does need to be attack is in her defense of “marriage” while excluding others. Where is the respect there?
Latino blogger Perez Hilton joined Larry King last night to break down the reason why he asked Miss USA contestant, Miss California, the “fatal question”. In this clip, Perez says he didn’t mean for the question to be a “bomb” and that he could tell by the look on Miss Cali’s face that she knew she was going to lose her shot at the title because of her answer.
Hilton also alleges that television had a hand at editing out the “loud boos” that Miss California received upon stating her opposition to gay marriage.
What do you think about Perez’s stance? Is his analysis fair? Does he defend his point well?
This idiot is representing my state in the world’s most irrelevant television event? At least fellow Latino blogger Perez Hilton tries to make this moronic and antiquated pageant somewhat relevant, but look at the response he was awarded for his good intentions. Note as well the applause she got. Not surprising when you consider who might be attending such a shitshow.
