Reports: Michael Jackson is Dead

michael_jackson_youngThis story is developing, and I am still in deep shock, but TMZ reports that Michael Jackson has just passed away:

We’ve just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hill home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We’re told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

I really cannot believe it. He had a very tormented life but he was a talented musician like no other. This is truly tragic. RIP, Michael.

Meanwhile, I’m in Europe watching CNN (supposedly live) and they are reporting that he is just in a coma, and aren’t confirming he is dead yet. Does TMZ know something CNN doesn’t?

Update: Wolf Blitzer of CNN just confirmed Jackson’s death
via The LA Times and CBS.

In front of a bunch of screaming fans, Michael Jackson preened and shied his way through a few sentences.

From the Telegraph

The singer will perform at the O2 arena in south east London, his first live performance for more than two years.

He said the This Is It shows would be his “curtain call”.

Jackson is one of the best-selling artists of all time, and with a brimming back catalogue of huge hits, there is bound to be a huge demand for the concerts.

The singer has kept a low profile since his 2005 acquittal on child molestation charges and has spent time living outside the United States.

His last studio album was in 2001 and concerns for his health as well as a tarnished reputation from his erratic behaviour will raise questions over whether the 50-year-old can still be a thriller.

His last live performance in Britain was at the 2006 World Music Awards, where he performed some lines from We Are the World.

The current Michael Jackson sort of makes me feel really sad every time I look at him. I grew up with a much different dude. And I can’t even begin to explain to you how freaking OLD it makes me feel to know that Michael is FIFTY. Time, where have you gone???

DiegoLuna_NT.jpgNo, your eyes don’t deceive you. Mexican actor Diego Luna is slated to play a young Michael Jackson in a new film directed by Harmony Korine called “Mister Lonely”, according to Univision.com:

It sounds incredible but it’s true: according to the Reforma newspaper, Diego Luna will play the role of Michael Jackson during his youth, though we don’t have a clue as to how he will do it. Presumably it wil be in the time after he started lightening his skin.

The premise of the film? Not easily explained, but according to Univision.com:

According to reports from the European daily Screen, Diego Luna’s character meets Marilyn Monroe (Samantha Morton) in Paris and follows her to a commune in Scotland, where they both meet Charlie Chaplin and Shirley Temple. The action eventually move to Brazil, where some missionaries get wrapped up in the comedy.

Put down the crack pipe.
