Disney Goes Latino : Stereotype Style

DISNEY-STUDIOS-MICKEY.jpgWhat do you get when an animated chihuahua gets lost on vacation and meets animated Latinos who try to help her? The latest animated stereotype-fest from Walt Disney. The film, South of the Border, features the voice talents of notable Latinos like Salma Hayek, Andy Garcia, George Lopez, Cheech Marin, Piolin, Paul Rodriguez, Placido Domingo, and Edward James Olmos.

Looks like Disney is trying to cash in on Latino dollars and Latino children. I guess they figure with all the white princesses, one “Middle Eastern” princess, an Asian warrior, and Pocahontas, they need to give the Latinos something too, a dog (voiced by Drew Barrymore).

Apocalypto a 2 Dollar Film on Mexico Streets

Apocalypto-PosterGer1.jpgThe movie hasn’t even hit the Mexican big screen, but Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto is a big hit on the Mexican streets. For about 2 dollars you can get your own bootlegged copy of the film complete with people walking in front of the screen.

I know many people didn’t agree with my take on the movie but I might be tempted to pay $2 for a copy to review from the comfort of my bedroom, especially if I knew that mone y wasn’t going into Mel’s pockets.

alma_longoria170x225.jpgEva Longoria needs to have us on her payroll because this mujer is anything but desperate for publicity. She is all over the place, including here. According to Female First :

She will play the dead fiancée of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ star Paul Rudd in ‘How I met my Boyfriend’s Dead Fiancée’. Eva’s spooky character tries to keep her boyfriend away from a female psychic who falls in love with him. Filming starts at the end of August.

Why do I have a feeling this is a movie that I and millions of others will not see.
