It’s nothing personal. I just really dislike bubble gum pop music in any language, especially when it’s not just a band but a television show and a concert and a magazine. I should have seen it coming. The warning signs were all there, like when I was at a party on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and this guy from Israel was singing RBD songs. But there is a whole new level of cred that comes with making it in the New York Times and that day has come. According to the Times:

RBD (known by the Spanish pronounciation, “erre beh deh”), a photogenic Mexican sextet that started out as a soap opera spin-off but now rules the world of Latin pop with feel-good teen anthems and Las Vegas-style concert productions. Yet the group remains all but unknown among English speakers, a problem its members are hoping to solve by recording their first English-language album. Due this fall, the album is being aimed at non-Latinos in the United States, as well as markets in Canada and even Asia.

I can barely handle them in Spanish. Now I have to look forward to them in English?
