I wrote about the Spokane bomb scare that just happened this past MLK day over at Global Comment!
A snippet:
Spokane human rights activist Tony Stewart has stated about the bomb scare that, “here we are facing something that is not to be taken lightly.” He knows, just like those of us working on immigration in Arizona know, that even if this bomb has nothing at all to do with politics, it emerges from an atmosphere of heated racist rhetoric and violence. Violent white supremacy has not only been on the rise, but has become normalized in the mainstream. It is imperative to put these incidences into a national context in addition to a local context, and to look at them from the perspective of infiltration of the mainstream by blatantly white supremacist organization rather than as a few fringe radicals acting “crazy.”

5 Jun 2010We here at VL have gotten a massive influx of trolls lately, I’m not really sure why. But the way I can tell a troll is that no matter what I, la Macha, editorista, have to say, Teh Trollz are always fairly certain that I am really la Mala, i.e Head Editorista. Because all us Latinas are the same, right?
And if Teh Trollz have no problem posting twenty-five comments under different names, then us Latinas don’t either, right? (Hello Brenda, gringa, another gringa, concerned, and a fair lady!).
Needless to say, I am a different person than la Mala–and I enjoy being her head goon. I will continue to delete anybody who is not commenting about something directly connected to a particular post, and I will even laugh while I do it.
Until then, I guess I should write more posts or something.
Have a great weekend,
la macha

Because we are a multi-talented groups of mujeres here at VivirLatino, we represent our skills in many places.
la Macha is writing some guest posts over at Bitch magazine’s blog.
Go over and represent and support independent Latina voices. Her latest post is on nationalism and sports.

In case you didn’t notice, my dear VLatin@s, I (la Macha), have been outta commission since last Wednesday due to a badly hurt finger. Well, my finger is mostly healed (I will be going to the doctor later to have her officially declare it “ok”) and I am ready to go again!
I want to extend a deep well of love to Mamita for picking up my slack while I was gone–I deeply appreciate her love and support!

18 Nov 2008Due to my trigger happy finger, I have accidentally deleted a whole page of comments that the lovely VLatin@ crowd have left here at VL recently. I think I got all the comments recovered except two–if you don’t see your comment posted and you have left one with the past three or four hours, please feel free to leave your comment again, and accept my apologies for deleting your original comment!
Much love,
La Macha
