If it weren’t for living in the mami’hood, I would be covering the RNC right now. Thankfully, there are some good peeps on the ground there, talking not with the politicos, but with the voters themselves.
Nezua, spoke to supporters of three different candidates and got to their deep motivations as to why they support who they do.

Everyone wants the Latino vote, even if we are all gang bangers and putas, at least according to the mainstream media. Day after day, out hotness and criminality is highlighted, even in so – called political articles covering endorsements and independent media here at the DNC.

I never thought I’d have anything in common with Daddy Yankee, who recently endorsed Republican presidential candidate John McCain. And no, I’m not talking about being Puerto Rican, I’m talking about being stereotyped.

I caught this new McCain ad as I waited to board my plane to Denver yesterday. My initial reaction was : How the hell is it McCain’s business why Obama didn’t pick Clinton as his running mate (it probably has nothing to do with the pretty overt racism carried out by her campaign- right?).

070201_JoeBiden_vl.widec.jpgThis morning, we woke up to the news that Barack Obama has chose Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware to be his running mate. I know I didn’t get the text message I signed up for but that might have been for the better. The announcement went out via text message and email at about 3 a.m.

Joe Biden has all the experience that Obama’s critics say the presidential nominee lacks. Biden is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Kety Esquivel represented The Sanctuary early this morning on CNN, talking about Republican candidate John McCain’s failure to respond to a comprehensive questionnaire on, among other things, comprehensive immigration reform.

who-is-john-mccain.jpgEarlier this week, we told you how Barack Obama responded to a lengthy, detailed questionnaire on Latino issues and immigration while John McCain, despite saying he’s an amigo to Latinos, couldn’t be bothered.

The questionnaire
, put together and out out by a coalition of activist bloggers, The Sanctuary, is picking up steam in the mainstream media.

Kety Esquivel, founder of CrossLeft.org will be present to talk about our ongoing campaign for substance over soundbites in this presidential selection:

So who is the target audience for this ad? Bible toting evangelicals who swear that as soon as Obama gets into office he will unleash his secret Muslim agenda onto the world?

The deadline has come and gone for the U.S. presidential candidates to respond to a questionnaire put together by The Sanctuary, an online coalition of pro-immigrant bloggers and activists that VivirLatino is a part of.

While both candidates have made alot of noise about the importance of the Latino vote and Latino community, only the Barack Obama campaign actually responded to a lengthy questionnaire that digs deep into the issues behind the comprehensive immigration reform buzzwords.

Check out the press release after the jump.

Obama may not have a Latino problem but he does have a Latin American problem. I may not appreciate the cut and paste style of the ad and let’s be real, John McCain isn’t gonna take care of business when it comes to allowing Latin America to take care of it’s own business, but McCain does have a point when it come to Obama’s positions on Latin America. It’s one of the main concerns I have when it comes to Obama.

The latest ad coming out of camp McCain likens Barack Obama to a celeb and not just any celeb but celebs famous for being empty and well famous.

While it is true that McCain has a few (I’m being nice) years on Obama in terms of experience, I guess being a senator doesn’t count.

Oh and I heard this little interesting note on TMZ (I know, I know) last night. Seems that the Hilton family has contributed some money to McCain. I wonder if they appreciate the characterization of their daughter?
