A much-hated figure here at VL, I try not to give Jessica Alba too much attention, but I’m sure you’re all interested to hear: she’s having a baby.

“I can confirm that Jessica and Cash are expecting a baby in late spring/early summer,” Alba’s publicist, Brad Cafarelli, said Wednesday in an e-mail to The Associated Press.

Wasn’t she who judged Mexican women for, according to her, “just popping out children”? She certainly didn’t waste much time after dumping her bf over the summer.

Via a reader tip who pointed us to a post on PerezHilton.com, Jessica Alba had a lot to say about her Mexican heritage, and none of it good. Here’s a short excerpt:

“I’ve got cousins galore. Mexicans just spread all their seeds. And the women just pop them out.”

“My grandfather was the only Mexican at his college, the only Hispanic person at work and the only one at the all-white country club. He tried to forget his Mexican roots, because he never wanted his kids to be made to feel different in America. He and my grandmother didn’t speak Spanish to their children. Now, as a third-generation American, I feel as if I have finally cut loose.”

Wow, one more reason to hate her. Not sure where Perez got his info, but if this is true, I hope it alienates all of her Latino/a fans.

Jessica%20Alba.jpg Proving once again that Hollywood is concerned about the body image of young women everywhere, one skinny actress wants to be skinnier, at least that is what is being reported. In Touch magazine reported that Jessica Alba said:

I have curves, but I don’t really like them. I wish I was skinnier and taller.

If girl was any mas flaca she wouldn’t be here! So is Jessica a victim of her industry or is she just as mush to blame for perpetuating the skinny = pretty equation?

Didn’t Daddy Yankee look fine? I’m not a big reggaeton fan pero he’s a papi. Jessica Alba (who is quoted as saying she doesn’t feel like a “Latin actress”) looks lovely and tiny. Pero contrast that with the subdued and makeupless Shakira accepting her award via video.

Uy looking at Andy Garcia, I realize how much that cuban reminds me of my ex, a half Cubano. I take issue with Andy’s politics pero he is an amazing actor and deserves the Anthony Quinn award. This must be the anti-Castro Cuban bloc, with Andy Garcia, Cristina Saralegui, and Gloria Estefan. Whoa – Did Gloria Estefan have plastic surgery or is it just the hairstyle that makes her look so much younger. And rounding out the bloc is Emilio Estefan.

longoria.eva.jpg No entiendo why everyone is so surprised when a Latina makes it on the Hot 100 list of the numerous men’s magazines out on the market. Doesn’t everyone realize we’re hot? Regardless, Maxim released it’s Seventh Annual “Hot 100″ list with Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria at #1 for a record breaking second year in a row. Other Latinas making the top 10 include Jessica Alba at #2 and Cameron Diaz at #7. Now if only the mass media would pay attention to Latinas on other Hot 100 lists.

Latinos all over the world got teary eyed watching Gustavo Santaolalla (seen celebrating here with la bella Mexicana, Salma Hayek) get an Oscar for Best Original Score. Not only is he one of ours representing proud in an industry where often only a few token talents are allowed, he proudly proclaimed who he was on stage in his acceptance speech and made all Latinos feel like his Oscar was our Oscar. Felicidades Gustavo! I don’t think I’ve ever been more in love with an Argentino.

Hombres: put down your wallets. If you were planning to spend your money on March’s Playboy magazine in the hopes of seeing Jessica Alba in her birthday suit, I have bad news for you. She’s not naked. And Jessica herself is pretty pissed off that your dirty mind thought she was naked inside the issue. So angry is the Sin City star that she is threatning to sue Playboy for using her image for commercial purposes without her consent and causing “immeasurable harm” to her reputation and career. Alba insists that the men’s mag got her bikini clad cover shot, which actually is a promo pic, through some underhanded methods and that she never agreed to be their cover girl.

We may not have represented this morning at the Oscar nominations pero we can be proud er avergonzadas that our ‘lil Latina darling Jennifer Lopez is nominated for a Razzie in the Worse Actress category for her role in Monster in Law. The Razzies, run by The Golden Raspberry Award Foundation, celebrate the worst achievements in film. Ay but J.Lo. shouldn’t feel too bad. Jessica Alba is her hermana in the category for her roles in Fantastic Four and Into the Blue. La Lopez has one Razzie under her belt for her groundbreaking 2003 performance in Gigli.

Spanish media is reporting today on a survey (“The 99 Most Desirable Women”) featured on Askmen.com which asked the question: who would you most want for a long-term girlfriend? American men answered: Jessica Alba.

Según “El Nuevo Herald”, que analiza la encuesta, Jessica, protagonista femenina de “Los Cuatro Fantásticos”, ocupa el número uno en la categoría de las mujeres más deseadas para una relación a largo plazo.

Sienna Miller y a Angelina Jolie, ocupan un honroso segundo y tercer puesto. Les siguen de cerca, entre otras, la brasileña Adriana Lima, Charlize Teron, Natalie Portman y Eva Longoria.
