No Doughnuts for Jersey Radio Racists

racistdougnut.jpgLate last month Jen wrote about a racist radio show in New Jersey that called for listeners to report and round up undocumented immigrants. New Jersey Assemblyman Wilfredo Caraballo wanted to put his money where his mouth was in terms of protesting the radio show and trying to bring it down. The way to do this? By targeting advertisers with threats of boycotts. Just as many advertisers pulled their dollars from Don Imus‘s show following his statements regarding the women’s basketball team at Rutgers University, advertisers are doing the same with “Jersey Guys” of Millennium Radio. Major names have pulled their ads, including AT&T, CVS Pharmacy, Verizon, Hyundai, Volvo, Fox TV Station, Sleepy’s, PNC Bank, Nissan Parts and Services,and most recently Dunkin Donuts.
