The governor of Puerto Rico and 12 members of his party, el Partido Popular Democrata, were indicted yesterday on charges of conspiracy to violate U.S. federal campaign laws and giving false testimony to the FBI, among others. If found guilty, Anibal Acevedo Vila could face up to 20 years in prison. The charges follow a two year investigation led by the U.S. Federal Justice Department. Acevedo Vila will not be arrested, but rather will be given the opportunity to turn himself in. He is expected to do so sometime this morning. Others names in the indictments weren’t so lucky and were led away in handcuffs.
