hillary%20clinton.jpgWhat does Hillary want? She asks. Of course she’s not gonna say, I want Barack Obama to fall off the face of the earth. She’s gonna say safe things like I want to end the war in Iraq and I want everyone to have an education, and universal health care.
Of course she’s not gonna say, I want to be vice-president. She’s gonna say she wants people who have been invisible to be seen and an good economy.

What are people chanting? Save her? I can’t tell.

Ok Hillary keeps waving the Puerto Rico flag (verbally anyway). Which is annoying me because well in November Puerto Rico doesn’t matter!

Hillary says she won’t be making any decisions tonight and the crowd goes wild, like she can be the Democratic nominee now? Are they hoping she’ll go independent and give the White House to McCain?

Finally she gets to the finally, after asking people, oh crap did someone just yell don’t vote for Obama. I swear I heard that. Anyway so of course before she finishes she plugs her website, so that her supporters can offer their opinions (and I’m sure- give money).

Oh damn- she mentioned 9-11- 01, the Twin Towers anyway. The 9-11 card.

hillary-clinton.jpgHillary Clinton thanked South Dakota for having the last word in the Democratic Primary (too bad they were wrong).

Good move for her recognizing Obama’s victory except she never said the word victory, or that he won. She just congratulated him and his supporters. There was no mention of the historic moment his nomination represents.

Dreams, prayers, wishes….blah, blah, blah.

She says she’s committed to uniting the Democratic Party, but are her followers ready to do the same?

Given recent comments here and a general sense based on reactions to the Democratic National Committee decision regarding Michigan and Florida delegates, this woman may very well be what Hillary Clinton supporters are about.

01hillary.xlarge1.jpgHillary Clinton won the Puerto Rican primary yesterday and the reaction is exactly as I expected. Everyone is using the nearly 2-1 Clinton victory in Puerto Rico as proof that her candidacy still has viability. Even though, as Liza over at Culture Kitchen points out:

Some poll workers in small towns started abandoning the polling stations because turnout was so low, he said.
Part of the reason for the lack of interest, he said, is because voters feel the primary isn’t meaningful since Puerto Ricans cannot vote in the general election.
The Democratic and Republican parties run the primaries and caucuses, and they allow U.S. territories, such as the commonwealth of Puerto Rico, to take part in the process.
But only the 50 states and the District of Columbia vote in the general election.
El Nuevo Día reports the Board of Elections expected to have 600.000 voters. The Clinton campaign bargained on a million and more. Less than 400.000 people woke up this morning with the primaries in their minds.

21obama03_600.jpgAs I watched Barack Obama, with his wife and two daughters, cross the stage at his Iowa rally last night, I got to admit I thought, “How awesome would it be if this was the first family?”. Last night, Obama returned to the state whose primary acted as a crystal ball of what the rest of his campaign would look like. Last night Obama broke a significant barrier last night, earning a majority of pledged delegates. What makes this even more important is the fact that many unpledged delegates have said that they will go for whoever has the majority. In this case Obama.

But playing it smart, Obama didn’t say that it was over. Instead in Iowa last night he played the perfect Democrat politician, expressing his solidarity with the family of ailing Ted Kennedy, lavishing praise on Hillary Clinton, and saying the nomination of his party was within reach.

Hillary Clinton on SNL : My Supporters Are Racist

She (well the actress playing her) said it, not me.

HillaryClinton.jpgWhile some call for Hillary Clinton to stop running for president after Tuesday’s primaries in North Carolina and Indiana, others are calling for the calls to stop, saying that many of the calls for Clinton to drop out are based in sexism but for the most of the campaign, race baiting has been happening in the Clinton camp, but now Hillary Clinton herself is embracing her whiteness.

“I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on,” she said in an interview with USA TODAY. As evidence, Clinton cited an Associated Press article “that found how Sen. Obama’s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me.”

“There’s a pattern emerging here,” she said.

Have 7 Minutes : Then You Can Get the Democratic Primary

Seems like this is a little Obama sided (and maybe even sexist towards Hillary Clinton) but funny none the less.

07obama07_600.jpgThere were no big surprises coming out of yesterday’s Democratic primaries, held in North Carolina and Indiana. Barack Obama won North Carolina easily (by 14 percentage points), and Hillary Clinton just barely won Indiana. Many have attributed Hillary’s slight victory in Indiana to older voters who have been loyal to her, and Obama gaining votes from lower class white voters who have traditionally voted Clinton.

Obama’s clear victory in North Carolina, besides raising his delegate and popular vote count, also proved that the Rev. Wright drama hasn’t impacted his campaign as many thought it would.
