Seriously I don’t even know what to say in response to this video without going off. Talk about being blinded by privilege. Ferraro continues to attack and react instead of stepping back and covering the ass she showed when she made that “lucky black man” comment. Now she’s saying that Obama’s campaign is playing the race card and that they owe her an apology.
Note how Ann Curry repeats those same comments back, because she herself can’t believe it.
Go ahead wait for your apology woman, I’m waiting for a few myself.
Everyday I’m reminded how lucky I am to be a woman of color, a Latina, a Puerto Rican. I’m so lucky apparently that white women want to be women of color to get big book deals. When people of color question how such things can happen, how can so many real stories of the struggles of people of color get passed by, silenced ? If the answer we dare to speak is racism, well then we are racist against white people. Remind me how lucky I am again?
Enter Geraldine Ferraro who stepped down from her honorary post in the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign because she reminded Barack Obama (and all people of color in powerful positions) just how lucky he is:
“If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.”
