Ay New York, You’ve Let Me Down : Gay Marriage Bill Fails to Pass in State Senate

2 Dec 2009I’m supposed to be working another job right now and not blogging, pero I wanted to express extreme disappointment in the The Marriage Equality Act not passing in the NY State Senate.
The vote was 38-24.
Hiram Monserrate, my state senator, whom I have written about, apparently has no love for women, and has no love for the many LGBT residents in his district and trust me, there are many. He, a Democrat, voted against the act, and I would be more than down to help organize some sort of protest in front of this vendegente’s office.

20 Apr 2009Huge props to Blabbeando for posting and translating this debate on the “storm” of gay marriage in NYS.
Sometimes leaders say things on the Spanish language media that they wouldn’t say in the English marriage media, or take an issue from a perspective that isn’t usually covered. For example, is Luis Tellez, a board member behind NOM (who are behind the storm commercial)really saying that no fault divorces have done more harm than good to women of color since apparently they are to blame with the problems people of color families face? Sure sounds like it.
