Dora The Explorer Cuts A Rug!

It’s been a good morning so far with great news for us to celebrate. What better way to celebrate than to cut a rug with Dora the Explorer?! I really do love this video and when I got approval from our in-house youth editor, I knew I could bring it to you all. Not only is Dora an explorer but she is a slayer of mice on the dance floor! Enjoy! (but turn the volume down on your computers because the volume on the video is loud).

Spongebob and Dora Saved! Viacom and Time Warner Make a Deal

616~Dora-The-Explorer-Posters.jpg Fans of the overly screamy like a typical Latina, Dora the Explorer can breath a sigh of relief now that Viacom and Time Warner Cable agreed on compensation that preserved access for the cable system operator’s 15.7 million subscribers to Dora’s Nickelodeon network, MTV and 17 other channels.

We are pleased that our customers will continue to be able to watch the programming they enjoy on MTV Networks,” said Glenn Britt, president and CEO of Time Warner Cable Inc. “We are sorry they had to endure a day of public disagreement as we worked through this negotiation.”

Viacom Inc. president and CEO Philippe Dauman said the company was happy a deal was struck. Viacom had mounted an advertising onslaught warning customers of the possible blackout, taking out ads in major newspapers and Web sites from The New York Times and TVGuide.com featuring a tearful “Dora the Explorer” crying and clinging to her monkey pal, Boots.

38513.jpgI don’t buy into the whole Latino vote crap. I’m not saying our votes don’t count (I really hope they do on Tuesday) or that we shouldn’t vote. I’m voting and dragging my whole stereotypically large family with me. Pero the “Latino Vote” in McCain airquotes, has become a marketing tool, a publicity stunt, with the Republican and Democrats parading people around with accents, Latin lover looks, or any otherness cred in a sad sad effort to earn our vote. Every election cycle it’s the same thing, and the closer we get to the election, the worse it gets and the sad thing is that some of our own people, fellow Latinos, play along. Blame wanting their additional 15 minutes of fame or poor political educations, pero the fact that some Latinos are willing to straight up sell out and sell the interest of their own people out just so they can take the center ring in the circus we call elections me da verguenza.

So who are some of the worse Latino offenders?

The Real Dora is Less Screamy than the Cartoon Version

It’s no surprise to anyone that I think Dora the Explorer is a screamy headache inflicting show. But the real Latina voice behind the Latina cartoon powerhouse is soft spoken in comparison.

Dora Teaches Kids : Can you Say Lead Paint?

2:51 pm By Jennifer Woodard Maderazo · business|children|Health · Comments Off

2 Aug 2007

dora.jpgReason 3,254 why that screamy Dora the Exploradora has never been a toy of any of my kids : she makes kids eat lead paint, seriously. Today toy company Fisher Price initiated a recall of nearly a million toys in the U.S. (over a million worldwide) including those based on the popular show Dora the Explorer and Sesame Street because the surface paint of the plastic toys likely contains lead paint. Lead paint exposure can lead to brain damage in children.

Can you say lawsuit in Spanish?

To see if a toy you may have is part of the recall click here.
