blogmartyr.jpgIf you’ve been paying close attention, you may have noticed some changes on VivirLatino. That’s because VL has a new publisher: 2 Mujeres Media. But that doesn’t mean that Jennifer and I are going anywhere. We are 2 Mujeres Media, so we are now more involved than ever!

With these changes comes gratitude for the Blogs Media team, all their work in creating the site and helping in it’s growth.

We thank our readers for their continued support and for their infinite patience as we move forward, together.

Introducing YouAre

2209533242_febeb598ff.jpgBlogsMedia, padre/madre of VivirLatino, has a newborn bebito they would like to tell you about. It’s called YouAre:

On YouAre, throughout the day you can share what you are doing and what interests using text, video, and images in a fast and concise way using 140 characters. You can control which updates you receive to include just real life friends, online friends, acquaintances, co-workers, colleagues, and family. You can also place and promote your professional profile, network, get to know more people in your hometown and import content from your YouTube, Flickr, and Del.icio.us accounts.

Put simply, if you’re using several social networks such as Flickr for photos, YouTube for videos and others, YouAre helps you put it all in one place and share your stuff with your friends, colleagues, etc. All that in less than 140 characters (like on Twitter)!

YouAre is still in private beta, but you can be one of the first to test-drive it by signing up for an invite on YouAre.com.

Happy Birthday to Us!

cumpleanos.gifIt’s hard to believe that VivirLatino has been live for a whole year! It feels like we’ve been at it forever, bringing our readers the latest in Latino lifestyle, entertainment, society and politics. Over the last year we have changed and grown. We have seen shifts in editors, filmed television pilots, become a Google news source, and been featured in national magazines. We’ve made friends across the Latino and general blogosphere and have become pure sinverguenzas (but in a good way), highlighting news, websites, events, places, people, and overall, things that interest us as Latinas. We, like most of you, straddle two cultures, two languages and keep an eye on Latino happenings here and around the globe. We are excited to embark on year number dos and thank all of you, our readers, for your continued readership and support. We have plans underway to make the next year of living Latino with VivirLatino ever better.

CSS Manía: A new site by Blogs Media

lg-cssm.gifFrom the folks that bring you VivirLatino, Blogs Media is proud to announce a new site: CSS Manía.

What is CSS?

Well, it´s short for Cascading Style Sheet, and what you see here on the site is done using it. Basically it is: a simple mechanism for adding style (eg fonts, colors, spacing) to Web documents.

Why a CSS site?

Our founders explain: “We wanted to show that a small, Spanish-speaking company has the know-how and the ability to contribute to and compete in a large genre such as that of CSS Showcases. And at the same time, help this area evolve.”

VL on Google News

VivirLatino is proud to announce that we are now officially a news source on Google News! Now, when you are browsing Google News for Latino-related news stories, you’ll find VL headlines right alongside those of “big guy” media.

vl-googlenews.gif

We’re hoping that this exposure on such a highly-trafficked news site will give added exposure to the Latino community and in the process give others who may be unfamiliar with issues affecting the community access to information and perspectives that may not be represented in traditional media. Increasing VL’s presence on the web will also be highly beneficial to the sponsors that make this site possible. Thanks to them and to the readers who have made the first few months of VivirLatino a success.

wa.jpg You love us. You really do love us. Well someone loves VivirLatino enough to have nominated us as one of the finalists in the 2005 Weblog Awards in the category of Best Latino, Caribbean, or South American Blog. Yes it is an honor just to be nominated and be among some other great blogs in the Latino flavored blogosphere but it would even be a greater honor to win. You, loyal VivirLatino reader, have until 11:59 pm tonight (eastern time) to vote for your favorite Latino blog. Please note that in order to vote Macromedia Flash version 7 (or higher) is required.
