Shakira’s suegro in trouble

The iron fist of justice is coming down on former Argentine president Fernando De la Rúa (a.k.a. Shakira’s boyfriend’s dad) and the charges are anything but light: five counts of manslaughter and injuries to hundred of protesters, for starters.
Though it’s not yet a formal indictment — the courts are still trying to ascertain who was responsible for the acts of repression which left citizens dead or injured in December 2001 — Argentine judge Claudio Bonadío has ordered the 6.2 million dollars of De la Rúa’s assets be frozen.
According to Reuters, if the case is approved by a higher court it will go to trial. It will be interesting to see, if that does happen, whether or not Antonio De la Rúa, a close advisor to his father, will also be asked to testify.
Shakira goes on sabbatical

Oh, how I would like to follow in the steps of Shakira. People en Español reports that Shaki is about to take a nice, long vacation — one year to be precise — to “dedicate time to her loved ones”. She stated at a press conference in her hometown of Barranquilla:
“I think I deserve it. It’s good to stay at home and think about one’s self a little. To be with loved ones and accompany them in their own dreams like they’ve done with mine.”Here she was recognizing the support of her boyfriend, Antonio de la Rúa. “Antonio had dedicated himself to my projects for a long time, he’s made them his and that for me is a great gift. Now it’s time for me to support him in the realization of his dreams.”
What a nice gf Shaki is…
Shakira also confirmed that during this sabbatical she will not be doing any acting because the idea “terrifies her”.

Is our lovely Shak-attack finally going to tie the knot with her boyfriend, Antonio De la Rua? Rumors have been flying for years, but it seems that controversial (ousted) ex Argentine President Fernando De la Rua — Shaki’s would-be suegro — is hinting that the pair has at least talked about the possibility:
Former President Fernando de la Rua told Listin Diario that the hip-shaking international superstar and his son, Antonio, have talked about marriage and raising a family but have no immediate plans to tie the knot.“They prefer to wait,” de la Rua said. “Kids today would rather live as a couple, they don’t believe that marriage is necessary to be happy.”
Those crazy kids of today. Mr. De La Rua also had some nice things to say about Shakira, calling her a “very good woman” and “a lover of peace“.

Enough politics, we know most of you come here looking for bochinche/chisme (unless you’re coming here to tell us to “go home” or something equally as enlightening). Latina Magazine is reporting that the buzz in Miami and Colombia is that Miss Shakira may be Mrs. Shakira (or Mrs. de La Rua if you will). She’s been engaged to Antonio de La Rua, the son of the former president of Argentina for over a year now and the rumores are that the boda is set for October in Uruguay.
