Antonio Aguilar Passes On

antonioaguilar.jpgAntonio Aguilar, known as el charro de Mexico, succumbed to his illness after being in the hospital since June 4. The 88 year old singer, actor, composer and all around Mexican legend passed on sometime before midnight last night in the presence of his wife, Flor Silvestre, and sons, Pepe and Antonio Aguilar Jr. It is expected that there will be a funeral mass or memorial today , possibly in el Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. After which , Antonio Aguilar’s body will be flown to his native Zacatecas for burial. Antonio Aguilar was born on May 19th, 1917. He starred in over 150 films and hundreds of albums.

Antonio Aguilar takes a turn for the worse

Antonio%20Aguilar.jpgLast week Maegan told us about legendary singer and actor Antonio Aguilar’s struggle for his life against a severe pneumonia. People en Español is reporting that after a week of marked improvement in Aguilar’s health, the latest news this afternoon is that he has had to be moved to the intesive car unit to undergo hemodialysis, a procedure employed to clean the liver.

Aguilar’s doctor had this to say:

“Our greatest wish and the wish of his family is that Don Antonio get to leave the heart unit and continue his recovery on the third floor, where he’ll be able to recieve a few more visits in addition to those with Pepe and Flor, who have been with him since he was admitted.”

We wish the Aguilar family the very best, and Antonio a quick recovery. We’ll keep you posted on how this develops.

antonioaguilar.jpgLegendary Mexican singer and actor Antonio Aguilar finds himself in a life or death situation in a Mexico City clinic. The 78 year old known as el charro de Mexico, has been in the clinic since Monday due to pneumonia complications and and is on a respirator. His doctors consider his condition grave. The artist, who officially retired in 2005 is accompanied by his wife Flor Silvestre,and his sons Antonio and Pepe Aguilar .
