While it’s been quiet here since last week’s post about the Supreme Court SB1070 decision, I have been very busy.
I just returned from five days in Detroit working with Incite! and attending the Allied Media Conference. As a woman of color/RicanĀ independent media maker both spaces have been critical for me in terms of skill sharing, resource building, support, and solidarity. It allowed me to recognize my life/work as a media maker. This year at the AMC I especially focused on building my media making skills including podcast and livestreaming technology, analog media, and exploring the intersections of security and online justice centric media. I will be writing a separate post about each of the workshops I attended and sharing what I learned. So stay tuned throughout the week.
In the meantime, you can hear an interview I did while in Detroit with Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR) on their show Counterspin.
