Friday Morning Bochinche : Brazilian Novela El Clon to Be Redone in Spanish

El Clon, a Brazilian novela dealing with Islam, the role of women and the science of cloning, is going to be redone in Spanish by Telemundo. I watched the dubbed version when it was originally aired in 2002 and loved it! I hope that Telemundo doesn’t ruin it.
The new Spanish version might have some tweaks, according to Ricardo Scalamandre, general director for international business at Globo TV.
“We are producing based on the original format but specifically for an Hispanic audience, and there will be differences,” Scalamandre said. “The original plot was in Rio … now it’s in California. The main characters and the main story remain the same, but it is to be completely customized for the Spanish market.”
Yeah, why don’t I trust Telemundo. They will totally ruin it.

I have no inclination to get married myself (shhh don’t tell my partner) but I love me a good boda. While a Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz wedding is just bochinche at this point, I really hope it happens. They are a cute couple.

If you believe anything on a show called Escandalo TV (complete with half nekkid dancing chicas) then Jennifer Lopez’s Scientologist papi has confirmed that his daughter from the block is expecting a double bundle of joy.
“They are twins, yes,” David Lopez said on Telefutura’s “Escandalo TV” program. He said his sister had twins. “To be a mother is something Jennifer has wanted for many years,” Lopez said. “I feel superproud.”

It seems in spite of all the rumors swirling around that JLo was in the process of giving birth to some Marc Anthony babies over the weekend at the North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, it might have been a false alarm:
A story Sunday in the New York Post said the hospital’s maternity ward had been “buzzing” late Saturday amid reports that Lopez had arrived to give birth to two babies. The report said two nurses had confirmed that Lopez was at the hospital, and that security appeared to have been tightened.On Sunday, however, there was no evidence either of Lopez’s presence or of heightened security in the maternity ward or at the hospital. Several calls to a hospital spokesperson went unreturned. Calls to Lopez’s publicist, Leslie Sloane, also were not returned.
Like a real diva, she’s making the world wait. I, however cannot wait to see what the little tykes look like. And I think you know why.

Eva’s Going to Rehab

Actress Eva Mendes is reportedly in rehab for some unknown substance abuse problem. TMZ reports:
We’re told the “Ghost Rider” star is at the famous Cirque Lodge, near Sundance. The Lodge, which treated Lindsay Lohan and other stars, is one of the most respected treatment facilities in the country.Eva has been at Cirque for several weeks.
Her rep tells TMZ “Eva has been working hard for the past year and made a positive decision to take some much-needed time off to proactively attend to some personal issues that, while not critical, she felt deserved some outside professional support. Out of respect for Eva’s privacy, we do not wish to discuss further details.”
Given the great work they’ve done with Lindsay Lohan, I guess we have nothing to worry about!

Shakira to marry?

Is Colombiana superstar Shakira ready to walk down the aisle with her bf Antonio De la Rua? That’s what Spain’s El Pais is reporting today:
According to Uruguayan press, everything seems to indicate that they will marry in San Carlos, a Uruguayan town close to touristy Punta del Este, as the couple has been asking for information at the courthouse.
Although the exact date of the ceremony is unknown, many Uruguayan websites are already talking about the guest list. Among attendees names like Alejandro Sanz and Penélope Cruz are being heard, and these two are supposedly whom Shakira has chosen as padrinos for the wedding.
I wonder if this is fact or rumor. We’ve heard this so many times before it’s gotten hard to believe. Plus the Mexican brujo says it won’t happen.
In other news, Shakira is filthy rich.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and supermodel turned phone-thrower Naomi Campbell are reportedly in love. Spanish newspaper 20 Minutos — a sometimes less-than-credible source — has been reporting on this rumor for days now, and I decided to ignore it until I saw it in none other than People en Español. This chisme has gone mainstream. A web site called World Entertainment News has picked up the story too:
Supermodel Naomi Campbell is dating Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, according to odd newspaper reports in the South American country.
The British stunner recently travelled to Caracas to interview Chavez for British magazine GQ – and reporters there claim the pair are smitten with each other and have been courting for two months.
Respected El Universal journalist Nelson Bocaranda claims 53-year-old Chavez fell “head-over-heels” in love with Campbell after their interview, in which he flirted and invited the 37-year-old to “touch my muscles”.The catwalk queen is quoted in El Universal, describing Chavez as “not a gorilla, he is more a bull”.
Anyone want to remind WTF she’s doing in Venezuela in the first place? That part of it still isn’t clear to me. Since when is she a political correspondent? If anything the presence of a fashion model might serve to help him get over his obsession with red shirts.
Anybody out there believe this rumor? Does Huguito have a softer side? Is he attempting to debunk previous (stupid) rumors about his personal life?

Pop diva Christina Aguilera gave birth to a baby something boy over the weekend. According to the singer’s website, the little bundle of joy — named Max Liron Bratman — weighed in at 6 lbs. 2 oz.
No pictures yet, but I’m sure there will be a People magazine cover coming soon.
In the same 48-hour period, 3 other celebrity births took place in the Cedars Sinai Hospital in L.A.: In Living Color star David Alan Grier and wife, Nicole Richie, and Courtney Thorne-Smith (aka Allison from Melrose Place).

Michelle Rodriguez Out of Jail Early

I’ve got a case of deja vu. Didn’t we post this same news back in 2006? That was when Lost star Michelle Rodriguez got sprung from jail because of L.A. jail overcrowding. Well, it must still be really crowded in there, as Rodriguez served only 17 days of her 180-day sentence.
In case you’re just tuning in, Rodriguez was arrested for drunk driving in April of 2006 (and asked the arresting officer to kill her) and was sentenced to 60 days in jail. She served a couple of days, promising to do community service. She never showed, so was sentenced to the 180-day sentence she was serving until her release yesterday.
Way to deter bad behavior, Los Angeles!

We hate to follow a DUI story which followed another DUI story with yet another DUI story, but we though you might want to know that Lost star Michelle Rodriguez won’t be home for the holidays: she’ll be spending them in la pinta.
Rodriguez reported to a Los Angeles County jail on Sunday to begin a six-month sentence for failing to complete community service and alcohol monitoring as part of her probation from a drunken driving incident, authorities said.She was booked into the Century Regional Detention Facility just before 4 p.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Aura Sierra. It’s the same jail where Paris Hilton served much of her sentence earlier this year.
Michelle could have avoided this altogether had she not thought she was too good for community service.
Digging around, I found a very interesting post over at A Socialite’s Life which describes, among other things, Michelle’s allergies to “cockroach resin”. Hope she takes her pills before entering jail!
