Black Friday Doesn’t Have to be so Black

shop3650_1 (3).jpg My mother had to open the retail store she manages at 7 am today. My cousins said they would be at the toy store at 6 am. The mall near my apartment was open at 5 am. The leftover turkey in the fridge, it’s time to go shopping! The day after Thanksgiving is considered the biggest holiday shopping day of the year and is sometimes called “Black Friday”. tanga.jpg Political t-shirts are so old school. Forget wearing your vote on a button on your sleeve. Put your favorite candidate on your underwear! That’s where it’s at. The Daily Gotham, that hearts NYC Democratic candidate for Mayor, Freddy Ferrer, is offering up tangitas urging peeps to “Vote por Fernando”. No word if the Ferrer camp has endorsed the pantaletas or if Bloomberg is launching a counter campaign. Bloomers for Bloomberg anyone?

madrid.JPGYesterday in Miami, Spain launched a $95 million campaign to promote Spanish products. Considered the #10 economic power in the world, their sales don’t project that image with US sales last year less than $7 billion. The balance is currently tipped in favor of the US with our exports to Spain in 2004 almost reaching $9 billion.

The marketing campaign run by Spain will focus on creating an image of quality and innovation, not just on traditional products such as proscuitto ham and oil, but also on products and services in the technological realm. Also expect to see more advertising for quality Spanish wines, fashion, and Spain as a tourist destination.
