DREAM Act Students Arrested in Sit-in at John McCain’s Office Now In ICE Custody

Angering news just coming out of Arizona. The DREAM activist students arrested yesterday were released by police only to have I.C.E waiting for them. The undocumented students are now in I.C.E. custody. It is not clear where they are being held.

I have been told that there will be a petition circulated soon as well as other actions.

I will post more info as soon as I hear more.

My name is Sandi Archer and I live in the Kansas City, MO area. I only found out about this horrible situation this afternoon. One of the people that is in ICE custody is a good friend of mine and we have worked on many political issues together over the lawst few years.

This evening at 55th and Oak (Kansas City) the Second Presbyterian Church held a “Faces of Immigration- a Prayer Vigil” to pray for these young people and to help educate and bring the community together. There were testimonials by several immigrants in KC, some that spoke in English and some that spoke only spanish and had translators. There was also music and many, many prayers going out in suport of these brave young people being held in Arizona, or whereever they have them now.

I believe that the lucky ones of us that are US citizens and come from families that have lived in this country for generations sometimes take for granted our status as citizens of this great country.

What has happened here should NEVER be aloud to happen in America. I love my country, but today I am ashamed, and very ashamed of the way this was all handled at Sen. John McCain’s office.

A very sad and worried,

Sandi Archer

Sandi,

Thanks so much for commenting here. They are in my prayers as are the families of these students.
