dv2_5f00_back_2d00_open_2d00_rightEvery once and a while VivirLatino gets sent products to try out and review so that we can share the information with our audience in an effort to make you buy something. And every once in a while, if Mala is in the mood, or if it seems like something that could be useful to myself and the VL audience we will. Today, I’m typing from one of HP’s new laptops, the HP Pavilion dv-2 Entertainment Notebook.

Straight from the box, the HP dv2 shiny white exterior could be seen as trying to look like a Mac. The interior black surrounding the Mercury-free 12.1″ diagonal HP BrightView LED display tells you it clearly isn’t, as well as the fact that it runs Windows Vista® Home Premium which as a two year Mac convert, I don’t dislike as much as I thought I would.

The dv2′s primary target market is college students (something I haven’t been for awhile). At some point I will test the small, lightweight laptop, starting at 3.81lbs., on an actual college student, pero as a blogger who uses a laptop as part of her daily routine, I like the feel and functionality of the HP dv2.

The HP dv2 includes an HP Webcam and integrated microphone, that seem to work exceptionally well. The built in speakers sound pretty good too.

My 11 year old likes the gaming functionality built in that allows users to access and play some of the more popular online games out there.

I have yet to try the External LightScribe Blu-Ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD±R/RW Double Layer. The fact that it is external means you have to carry an extra piece of equipment around, which could be a downside.

Another downside is that the dv2 heats up, alot, sometimes to the point of being scary and causing concern.

I’ll likely write some more as I play around with the different levels of functionality more, pero in the meantime you can check out the dv2 here. It starts at $699.99.

Wow, what a small world. The early “dv” from about 4-5 years ago is what I just picked up last night from a friend!
