A Tale of Two Rallies : Latinos Speak for and Against Marriage Equity in NYC

Andrés Duque from Blabbeando has some great video and pictures from two very different rallies that took place this past Sunday here in NYC. Both rallies dealt with the lives of GLBT people and both had Latinos speaking on the issues.

First here’s Ugly Betty’s Ana Ortiz (no relation), speaking at a rally organized by Broadway Impact and co-sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign, the Empire State Pride Agenda, Marriage Equality New York, the Civil Rights Front and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS

On the other side, was the Ruben Diaz fan club including Miguel Rivera of the The National Coalition of Latino Clergy and Christian Leaders, who sees no issue with equating NY Governor Paterson’s physical blindness with moral blindness.

You really should go to Blabbeando and see some of the video of Ruben Diaz and his second wife speaking on what a family should be and what laws should govern in this state.

These people scare the shit out of me. Why? Progressive and especially radical parents who teach their children justice and love are called brainwashers, pero so called Christians, who teach their children in special sessions that they will go to hell if they celebrate halloween and that the girls have bodies made for sin, so imagine what happens if they are gay? It scares me and it saddens me deeply.
