Old School Swine Flu

So apparently this isn’t the first time in history that the U.S. has been hit with swine flu fears. Just check out the ad below from 1976. I’m sure glad the gov. isn’t using this latest outbreak as an excuse to push vaccines (yet).

Watched a video that said the swine flu could potentially be compared to the 1918 flu epidemic. It said the 1918 epidemic was “25 times more deadly than normal influenza and if such an epidemic came today, killing a similar number of Americans, 5 million Americans would die.”

5 millions a large number … where do I get my vaccine.

There is no vaccine. Even the current flu vaccine doesn’t cover this type of flu and many other common strains. Vaccines aren’t the answer the everything and in fact, not to get all conspiratorial pero sometimes epidemics are caused by the very things we are taught stop them.

These days there’s more articles about it in the news
than people who have actually contracted swine flu
more people gonna die driving in their cars
but that don’t make news like new flus or SARS

35,000 deaths occur every flu season
we weren’t concerned last year, what’s the reason?
i’m not saying that you shouldn’t be worried
but worry on the news gets bigger in a hurry
