Hugo Chavez Kicks Out Israeli Ambassador to Venezuela

shlomo.jpgSo much for the restraint Jen yesterday wrote about Hugo Chavez showing. Venezuela yesterday expelled the Israeli Ambassador, saying it was an act of solidarity with the people of Gaza.

From an official statement:

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses, yet again, together with people across the world, horror at the death of innocent women and children—a product of the Gaza Strip’s invasion by Israeli troops and the continual aereal and ground bombardment systematically unloaded by the State of Israel on the Palestinian Territory.

At this tragic and indignant hour, the People of Venezuela manifests its unrestricted solidarity with the heroic Palestinian people; share the pain that has overcome the thousands of families for the loss of their loved ones; and standing with them, the Venezuelan government affirms that it will not rest until those responsible for these criminal atrocities are severely punished.

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela sharply condemns the flagrant violations of the international law which the State of Israel has incurred, and denounces its planned use of State terrorism, with which this State has positioned itself at the margins of National order.

For the reasons outlined above, the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has decided to expel the Israeli Ambassador and part of its personnel at the Israeli Embassy in Venezuela, reaffirming its vocation of peace and its existence that international law be respected.

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has prepared its mission in accordance to the UN so that, together with the majority of governments who require it, pressure is put on the Security Council to apply urgent and necessary measures to stop the current invasion of the State of Israel against the Palestinian Territory.

President Hugo Chávez, who has supported encounters with high representatives from the World Jewish Congress and has always opposed all anti-Semitism as he has all types of discrimination and racism, makes a brotherly plea to the Jewish community throughout the world to oppose the State of Israel’s criminal policies that serve as a reminder of the worst pages in the history of the twentieth century. With the genocide of the Palestinian people, the State of Israel will never be able to offer its own people a prospect toward a necessary and long lasting peace.

The Israelis control everything the Palestinians do. They are held prisoners on their own land. The Israelis control the border crossings and deny access to the Palestinians. many times a farmer can see his land but can’t get to it. If he doesn’t work the land it reverts to Israel. How can he get to the land to farm it when he is denied access? Crops rot in the ground while farmers apply for permits to farm their own land. I condemn the bombing that is going on over in Palestine. Thanks for Hugo Chavez who has the courage to speak out.

They announced this move at a anti-war protest last night and the crowd went bananas. Good for Chavez. Hopefully more politicians will wake up and find their spines. 41% of Americans were already against the war (before the bombing of the UN school), and yet not one US politician has spoken a critical word to Israel. Why is that?

Thank goodness for people like Chavez; what a great guy, the World needs more leaders like him to upset the stinking status quo where many countries are ruled by a small hegemony.
The leaders of the US are mostly very evil people; Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bliar et al should be in The Hague in prison for war crimes.
When will World opinion stop being so influenced by despicable spin doctors and put the foul, racist Israeli government in its place as well as making sure the yanks understand they are not the Masters of the Universe?
Hoorah for Chavez, Castro and others of suchlike ilk.

I salute you, Mr. Chavez, for taking the right stand that no other world leader has taken so far on the genocide of the Palestinian people being so blatantly perpetrated by the brutal Zionist regime of Israel and its murderous war machine. I am totally baffled to understand the utter silence of the world leaders, especially from the Arab and Islamic countries in the face of the worst atrocities being inflicted on the poor, innocent and defenceless people of Gaza with such impunity. It is a clear testament to the emergence of a New World Order- return of barbarism and the rule of tyranny with even uglier head in the 21st century. Hats off to the courageous leader of Venezuela, President Hugo Chavez!!! The world would be such a better place to live in if we have in our midst more great leaders like Mr. Chavez.

May God reward you bountifully for all the good work you are doing.

The silence of World leaders is truly disgraceful. Remember this when you are in the voting booth.
On the other hand the LibDems and Nick Clegg have been first class as well as The Green Party who have unequivocally stated their opposition to the brutal subjugation of the Palestinian People.
The World deserves more honesty from its leaders.

Mr. Hugo Chavez in expelling the Israeli Ambassador from his country has done what no arab head of state dared to do.
I wish I will have the chance of meeting this man one day.
On the other hand, Arab head of states are still trying to decide when and where to meet to discuss the Gaza war after 20 days of continuous slaughter.
We need a Hugo Chavez in every arab state as a ruler.

The thing needed to bring Israel back to any sort of decent behaviour is to show them that the World will NOT tolerate their outrageously cruel, fascist, apartheid and racist activities in the illegally occupied lands of Palestine; we should divest from anything Israeli and NOT BUY ANYTHING that comes from Israel.
