Update on Brooklyn Hate Crime Against Latino Hermanos

09assault.190.jpgYesterday I wrote about the horrific hate crime against two Latino brothers in Brooklyn and many of you have commented. Even as I write this update, I am cursing out of anger and sadness.

Jose O. Sucuzhanay was declared brain dead yesterday at Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens, where he was on life support and a death certificate has been filed.

Meanwhile no arrests have been made and the attack is only seen as a “possible” bias crime.

I wonder how many of nuestros hermanos have to die before our reality moves becomes more than a “possibility”

Hispanics have a much higher rate per hispanic person of committing a hate crime than the whites.

And did you know the govt. doesn’t collect data if a hispanic commits a hate crime because they only collect data on offender by sex/race. Hispanic is an ethnicity not a race. So hispanic crimes almost always go into white unless the hispanic is also black or asian. But they do collect data on the ethnicity of the victim. So we know how many hispanics are attacked but it takes a lot of work to see how much they attack, just an estimate. But the hispanic crimes usually against blacks go into the white column. Which makes whites look worse than they are. But tell me how many hate crimes hispanics commited in 2005 and we will see if you are right.

I dare you to find it.
