Colin Powell Endorses Barack Obama : Scares More White People

Yesterday, Republican former Secretary of State Colin Powell endorsed Barack Obama for president, a move which secured him a spot in an Obama White House. Powell said:

“We’ve got two individuals — either one of them could be a good president. But which is the president that we need now — which is the individual that serves the needs of the nation for the next period of time.. not just continue the policies we have been following in recent years. And I come to the conclusion to support Barack Obama because of his ability to inspire, because of the INCLUSIVE nature of his campaign, because he is reaching out all across America, because of who he is and his rhetorical abilities — and you have to take that into account — as well as his substance — he has both style and substance, he has met the standard of being a successful president, being an exceptional president.”

Claro, the fact that Powell is an important black man endorsing another important black man means conspiracy to some people.

Much of the blogosphere is abuzz over this particular part Powell’s appearance on Meet the Press, where he attempts to counter the negative use of the label “Muslim”.

Pero as positive and true as that statement may be, Nezua reminds us of Powell’s role in the post 9-11-01 push and ultimate move towards invasion and war of Muslim countries. Also Powell has a less than stellar track record of being inclusive, especially when it comes to the LGBT community in the armed forces.

From a Hispanic’s point of view…if Powell’s endorsement isn’t a case of “blood being thicker than water” or more specifically, “black being thicker than white”, I don’t know what is. What a scary time we are in. The thought that this inexperienced, socialist-leaning person could be our next president is terrifying. I hope the American people wake up and see this man for what he is.

Powell laid out his reasoning behind his choice. He has nothing to gain personally.
A year ago at this time, more Blacks supported Hilary than they did Obama. Obama has even had to earn the Black vote.
