I’m suffering from debate fatigue. I never expected much but as these go on, I become more tired of the same lines: of McCain saying my friend and his inability to look at Obama, refer to people of color speakers by name, including calling Obama “that one”, McCain saying that Iran is looking for a second holocaust, McCain making “red” or communism exmplified by Putin’s eyes Obama’s war mongering when referring to Pakistan.

The only clear “win” moment between the two as around health care. Obama stated that health care was a right while McCain cited it as a responsibility, making it seem that uninsured people, like me, make a choice in not having health care. That we don’t care when really the only choice I have is health care or food.

And the dirty word of the evening again, was immigration.

From Breakthrough, the people that brought you ICED and Don’t Deport Me Scotty, comes Homeland Guantanamos, an interactive online look at the conditions and deaths inside immigrant detention centers.

Just like ICED, Homeland Gitmos just doesn’t spit out facts and figures, but engages the user to find them through a virtual visit inside the horrific conditions of the federally run immigrant jails.

Having covered the issue, the information wasn’t surprising, but I can see Homeland Guantanamo’s potential as a learning tool , especially for youth. I’m gonna show my 11 year old daughter the site today and see what she thinks. She’s a big fan of ICED.

What do you all think?

DSC_0287Today, directo de Bogota, Colombia, Monareta drops their latest, Picotero, on planeta earth via Nacional Records.

The duo, made up of composer, producer and vocalist Andres Martinez and keyboardist Camilo Sanabria, bring cumbia and dub beats together with an electroshock treatment to make you wanna shake your culo and everything else while you’re at it.

Picotero is Monareta’s debut physical album, having already released two digital releases under the same label.

Si quieres un sneak listen before you buy (and yes you will wanna buy this album) visit their page at Nacional’s site

I like this latest video put out by Obama not so much because it is anti-McCain, but because I think it explains a lot of what the heck is going on with the latest economic crisis that seems darn near impossible to unravel. I don’t think the U.S.’s current economic problems started recently with predatory lending (although that’s obviously a huge deal), I think it started before that–when John McCain’s hero, Ronald Reagan, began deregulating anything he could get his hands on.

I don’t know though, as I said before, it’s not like I’m some sorta economics wizard. So maybe I’m too easily persuaded by partisan politics.

What do you think? Do you buy the video’s argument?

Is the way Sarah Palin speaks related to her upbringing? Her class? her education? Her race? Is it cute? Does it appeal to you or or your neighbor? Does it make you feel like she is like you?

Because sometimes, words are simply not necessary.

With Daddy Yankee’s endorsement of John McCain, suddenly there is a revival of mixing Rican politics with popular music and fashion especially with the rap/reggaetonero culture.

To counter Daddy Yankee’s move to the right with McCain, Fat Joe publicly is lending his support to Barack Obama right from his head down to his toes. fatjoeobama.jpg

And while we can debate the commodification of political figures on shoes and other gear, I wanna shift into the commodification of politics and politics show.
