24 Sep 2008Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few hours, you know that the political world is abuzz about McCain’s plans to “suspend” his campaign so that he can ‘concentrate’ on the financial crisis.
John McCain is making another big gamble, announcing today that he will suspend his campaign and return to Washington to work on a solution to the financial crisis.
The immediate-term politics here are smart, but in the longer term it’s a hell of a gamble: McCain has to be a legislator, and legislators don’t get elected president.
This marks McCain’s second “Hail Mary” pass, the first being the Sarah Palin selection.
Political bloggers are all speculating why this ’suspension’ is actually happening–many are pointing to the terrible interview that Sarah Palin gave to Katie Couric. In other words, if you go to all the major mainstream news sources now, the headline news is McCain’s campaign suspension, not Palin’s horrible interview.
Speaking of horrible, here’s the interview:
I was with Palin up (in a reluctant begrudging sort of way) until her last answer. At that point, I cringed and prayed.
But I’m interested in what VLatin@s think of this mess. Is there something sneaky going on with the McCain campaign? Is this a totally innocent-love-of-country move by McCain? A little bit of both? Tell me, tell me!

McCain has made a wise decision by returning to Washington to contribute to the process of preventing our nation from total economic collapes. Obama, in another show of arrogance, remains on the campaign trail to get more media “face-time” instead of returning to the Senate to do what he was elected to do during a national crisis. Not that Obama would be able to made any difference with a vote of “present” to any recommendations, but at least he could try to look Senatorial. The punk ass here turns out to be Obama for not doing what is expected of a Senator and the dumd ass goes to Joe Biden for saying Roosevelt was the President during the Great Depression and spoke to the people via television broadcast. Double Duh.

Ummm see the problem is that McCain still isn’t in Washington. He is here in NYC making campaign type speeches at the Clinton Global Initiative and meeting with rich former Clinton supporters. So, no. Not a punk ass. A lying ass. What? McCain got lost on his way to DC?
