Voter Suppression Wiki Launched

09:55 H | Topics: Activism - Internet - US Presidential Race 2008

With so much talk about voting being a weapon and the importance of the vote, it's also equally important to pay attention and act when votes aren't counted. Enter the Voter Suppression Wiki.

The purpose of the wiki is to have a central location to coordinate information and action around efforts to suppress the vote in this 2008 election.
The following video intro gives examples of why this is needed.

This site is designed to be a hub of information and action around efforts to suppress votes in the 2008 U.S. elections This is not a partisan effort and is not being done on behalf of any candidates for office

The Wiki has 5 parts to it:

1. What Is Voter Suppression. Many people don't know the wide variety of tactics being used to limit people's votes.
2. Incident Tracker. This section is where you can report or view reports of suppression activity. There's a standard template for each report and discussion thread
3. Action Center. This is where you do more than get angry. Here you'll find groups and specific campaigns that are working to protect voters and their votes
4. Wiki Media Coverage. To capture media coverage of the project
5.Wiki Promotion Tools. To help spread the word
