Matt Damon puts the slam down on Palin

This video of Matt Damon discussing Sarah Palin as a V.P. candidate is making the internet rounds right now. The already classic line from the clip, "I need to know if she thinks dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago because she's going to have the nuclear code."
I do believe that my respect for Mr. Damon just increased ten-fold. Although I feel a slight sneaky suspicion that there is just a tad of hidden sexism in his words--is there something wrong with hockey mom's? I get his point that being a hockey mom doesn't qualify you to be president, but why does being a lawyer qualify you more than being a hockey mom? What really *does* qualify you to be a president? I've heard some politicians say that really, nothing can--but we as a country do seem to feel more comfortable with unqualified men taking over high power positions with little to no experience that we do women. I think it's fair to question why that is. What do you think?

Matt says what is rightfully on the minds of most Americans. It's a joke to think Palin could even be President, much less Vice President.
Besides, anybody who abuses their position of power to try to fire a former brother in-law and Commissioner simply because of a personal vendetta and not on the basis of job merits is unethical, untrustoworthy and unfit to be a heart-beat from the highest office in the Land.

The primary job of the leader of the executive branch is to carry out the laws written by Congress. Clearly a background in law, which is so complex that it takes years of law school and then practice to master, is necessary for this position. I agree with your overall point that it can be difficult to ascertain which candidate is most qualified in many cases. However, in this case its a no brainer--running a nation of 300 million isn't something a "regular joe or joanna" can do well, and being a hockey mom doesn't come close to cutting it.
