One thing I’ve noticed since I started blogging at Vivir Latino, is that the VL community needs to come out of the dark shadows and expose themselves! We have a lot of lurkers here–which is beautiful! But I want to get to know you all! So i have named today Vivir Latino DE-lurk day!
Come out of the shadows, dear Vivir Latinos, pull up a chair and tell us a little about yourself! (and if you’re a little shy, you could start by telling us all who is your favorite super hero/ine and why)

VivirLatino is a daily publication published by 2 Mujeres Media, dedicated to featuring all the latest politics, culture, entertainment of interest to the diverse and influential Latino and Latina community in the U.S.

And to get you all excited, I’ll even start the conversation here.
Hm. My favorite super hero *was* Spider Man–that was until I saw the Christian Bale version of Batman, and now, I don’t know anymore.
I like super heros that move beyond big muscle and get into more of the back story and emotional conflict–I think both Spider man and Batman do that!
Nooooow….YOUR TURN!

My favorite superhero as a kid was Isis. Remember the tv show? I thought she was WAY cooler than Wonder Woman. I used to love that show. I did like the Wonder Twins too.
By the way, I just thought that I’d add that I love checking into VivirLatino every day. I usually do it on my lunch break at school. (It is the first thing I check!) I would have commented then but the darn filter at school wouldn’t let me drop a line!
Thanks for the daily news and info!!!

I’m a new york rican living in Memphis.
My superhero is River Tam - from firefly - she’s damaged and doesn’t talk much but she has a sense of humor and girrrl can she move!

Hey Kelly–No, I do not remember Isis!!! I was a total Wonder Woman nut. Probably cuz my Dad thought she was hawt or something. haha. (I did like the wonder twins as well, although I thought the transforming into some sort of water type thing was stupid, I would have wanted the animal transformation ALL THE WAY! :->)
And thanks so much for reading VL! I checked out your blog too, and it is really a nice blog, I’ll definitly be checking it out regularly!

I LOVED Isis….she was so much cooler & less “stiff & perky” than Wonder Woman (I don’t mean boobs, I mean her presentation generally).
And as I recall there were some cool Afrocentric references to her persona, even though they’re probably clumsy as hell to modern eyes. Must check YouTube!
Sorry, don’t have a blog but I love yours.

Haha, you all are going to make me do some major research on this Isis character! Maybe I can find some video and post it or something–bring back sweet memories!
(p.s. julia, I love your comments, you’re always so thoughtful and interesting!!! :->)

Reading this a few days later on bloglines, but I thought I should let you know that I consider VL a must-read. Seriously, where are all your commenters??

Aww thanks La Macha; I’m always afraid I’m commenting too much!
I thank you for smart, thought-provoking & blunt VL– it continually makes me challenge & question myself & my attitudes. Great job to you all: Jennifer, Maegan, La Macha & Estevan. Keep it up!
