Encouraging Alliances Through Insults?

I’m not sure I appreciate the effort at alliance building this author engages in. The basic point of his article is to show all different groups of people why voting for Obama is in their best interests. He makes a point of talking to Latin@s:

For Latinos, I know you guys just wanna get along and become true blue Americans. So I can’t blame you for not lining up with us forever-complaining black folks. After all, you guys were not dragged into this country in chains for free slave labor; you traveled here on your own free will.

It just gets better from there. He even holds an imaginary conversation with his Mexican son “Eduardo.”

It makes me wonder if this guy is secretly a Republican or something. I wonder what he hopes to accomplish by insulting those he is supposedly trying to convince?

Wow..it seems like he is honestly trying to be plain spoken but he’s exposing his own biases in the process, being rather patronizing. I don’t think he’s a “mole” republican, just lost in his own perspective.
