No, no according to the Spanish Basketball team, they aren’t making an offensive, stereotype promoting gesture in that team photo. Your eyes and sensibilities are wrong. They are not making “slant eyes” they are “winking” and felt it was an appropriate gesture and felt that it was “somewhat loving”.
Someone needs to smack the Spanish basketball team with a serrano ham.
On Saturday, 18 year old Fredy Villanueva, unarmed, was shot and killed by a Montreal police officer speaking community outrage described in the mainstream media as “a riot”.
What is known is that two police officers, a man and a woman, saw a group of young people playing dice in the parking lot behind the Henri Bourassa arena on Rolland Blvd., at the corner of Pascal St.
The officers approached the group and tried to arrest Fredy Villanueva’s brother Dany. An altercation broke out and the male police officer fired four shots.
Three people were injured, including Fredy Villanueva.
Back at home after a short stint in jail, Dany confirmed most witness accounts of the event. He said there was no way police could have felt threatened enough to fire at his brother because no one at the scene was armed and no one was violent.
“When the policeman had me on the ground, I was looking right at him and I didn’t see anyone touch him,” he said. “So how could (the officers) have felt threatened?”
Dany was charged with assault for having struggled with police during his arrest, but he has no idea why police wanted to take him into custody to begin with.
“They didn’t tell me anything. They charged me with assault … but those are the only charges against me,” he said.
While the police are conducting an investigation, the community is less than confident in the process and instead demand an independent investigation.

President Bush’s administration has made it very clear that he’s gonna go out with a bang, not with a wimper when it comes to attacking immigrant communities.
Just yesterday there was a report of another raid by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), this time in Ashville, North Carolina.
Federal officials have taken nearly 60 employees of an
Asheville company into custody as part of an operation to arrest suspected
illegal immigrants. The 57 people are employees of Mills Manufacturing Corporation, a government
contractor that makes parachutes for the U.S. military.U.S.Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Ivan L. Ortiz-Delgado said
that arrests are part of a targeted investigation.Ortiz-Delgado said that Mills Manufacturing is not a target of the
investigation and has been fully cooperative. The 59 workers who have been
detained are out of a total company workforce of 160, Ortiz-Delgado said.In all the case so far, the workers detained used fraudulent documents, ICE
officials said. Most of the people detained are from Mexico, but others are from Guatemala,
Ecuador, Honduras and El Salvador.About half of the people detained were released for humanitarian reasons,
ICE said. Those reason include child care and medical situations. The rest are being held at the Henderson County Detention Center. The county
has a an agreement with ICE to process and hold people accused of
immigration violations.

While the name, Center for Immigrant Studies, sounds non-partisan enough, in reality they are a right wing white supremacist hate group using their various fronts to spread lies to feed into the mainstream media and the mainstream media buys it!
Their latest piece of nonsense? Blaming immigration for the end of the world as we know it : global warming. Yes, that’s right folks. Polar bears drowning as icecaps melt? Blame the immigrants. Troubling weather patterns? Blame the immigrants.
They have such incredibly stupid “data” includes factors like “immigrant emissions”. Tell me they’re not talking about José’s and Tanya’s farts?
