One of my favorite Rican musical duos is set to drop their third album and based on the title alone, it promises to be as politically charged as ever. Calle 13’s new album, set for release on October 7th, is called Los de Atrás Vienen Conmigo, or in English, Those Left Behind are Coming with me.
Despite commercial success, the Rican hermanos haven’t been afraid to tackle controversial issues head on, like immigration and the FBI murder of Machetero leader Filiberto Ojeda Rios.
The first single off the new album, with the same name, is set to drop later this month.

I’ve heard of Calle 13 but haven’t actually heard their stuff. I definitely didn’t know they were politically inclined. Clearly gotta check them out!

For the record I am not a HUGE reggaeton fan…but groups like Calle 13 can really bring to light many of the things people rather not talk about and more importantly some of the kids are not educated about.
I hope to see them spark a movement similar to what Public Enemy did for young black people in the late 80’s and early 90’s…eso seria “kaotico”
(yes I was raised 1/2 my life in la isla….)
Viva la memoria de Don Filiberto.
As I am,
