Apparently someone died and made former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales boss of Latino opinion. He penned an op-ed in the L.A. Times schooling all of us with the headline: What Latinos want from their president. So Mr. Gonzales, tell me, what do we want from our president?
Any candidate who wants to attract this crucial voting bloc must address racial equality…Beyond immigration, both parties need to forge closer relationships with Latino voters. They need to connect with and make use of surrogates, as the Democrats have done with L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. They need to make more contact, an effort both parties launched last weekend, when they spoke to a conference of Latino elected and appointed officials in Washington. More important, they need to embrace policies from the Latino point of view…I have said often that Latinos share a common prayer: “Just give me a chance to succeed.” I believe that the candidate who will win Latino votes is the one who understands that desire and who will engage the issue of racial equality for Americans of all colors. It’s politically wise. More important, it is the right thing to do for our nation.
Hmmm equality. Rights. Something Gonzales is an expert on, hmmm? Since when has the Latino community allowed a proven liar to represent their best interest?
Part of the problem is that Latinos are way too desperate to follow the model minority track that when we see a Latino in a place of power, in a suit, we are all too quick to embrace that person, put them up on a tower as an example without paying close attention to whose interests they are serving. Whose interest did Guantanemo Bay and the ignoring of the Geneva Conventions serve? Not mine. Not my community.
Is he seriously the best example we can put out there for our community.
Oh and someone should remind Gonzales that Latinos come in varying shades.

This guy is a Joke! It is very interesting that out of everyone who can truly represent Latinos this guy was chosen! I was recently talking to some of people from work and saying just that, it does seem that as soon as someone is put in a suite and tie they become a representative of all people like them, this is not true at all. Estas personas son una bola de hypocrites and they only do things to benefit themselves.

This specimen belongs in the smithsonian as an example of the worst a human being can be: a cheater, a lier, a thief, an accomplice to the erosion and the destruction of everything that is decent and innocent about America. He is the embodiment of nepotism, cronysm, and disregard for the law. He should be sent to Guantanamo, and incarcerated for life. Latinos would improve their lives 100% by disregarding anything uttered by such a blasphemous phenomenom.
