The Happening on Friday the 13th

Confession : I have never seen an M. Night Shyamalan film. Mixed reviews tell me I likely am not missing much. But if there's any day to see a scary movie (or a movie that promises to be scary) it's today, Friday the 13th.

The Happening, opening today, is about some event, that could be anything from a terrorist attack, to aliens, to a monster, that is affecting parts of the United States, trapping them and leaving them unable to escape. It stars Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel as a couple facing their own internal relationship problems when the happening happens around them.

The unknown happening happens in three stages:
1- Loss of speech
2- Physical Disorientaion
3- Death (looks like people are driven to kill themselves)

The film is meant to tap into specific post 9/11/01 fears and paranoias (seriously I know people in Queens who avoid the city still).

The apocalyptic film also stars John Leguizamo as a father who has to make a choice to stay with his daughter or go find his wife.

I have my own theory as to what the happening is. Is this movie happening at all? Peeps who have seen it, let us know!
