I know there’s a scarcity of Latino themed theatrical productions, but do we need a Perez Hilton musical, really? No te parece mucho?
“In Touch” reports that Randy Blair, Timothy Michael Drucker and Zach Redler, all 24, have penned Perez Hilton Saves the Universe (or at Least the Greater Los Angeles Area): The Musical. The show will poke fun at celebrities like Britney Spears and Kathy Griffin — who is featured as a villain — and follows Perez as he saves L.A. from nuclear disaster.
Good luck with that. In the Heights it will not be.

11 Jun 2008Seeing that he’s trailing in Latino votes compared to Barack Obama, John McCain is going after the Cuban exile vote by bringing up the big bad wolves of Castro and the fact that Obama has said that he would consider meeting with whatever Castro happens to be in power.
Wouldn’t be interesting if John McCain made an ad aimed at an issue that all Latinos cared about, like um education or the economy maybe? Is this the best way to target the Latino vote?

The Blue Note is one of my favorite spots for jazz. It has an old school vibe and brings some of the top talent in jazz and related rhythms. Right now they are featuring three-time GRAMMY-nominated Cuban composer and pianist Omar Sosa. His brings his unique style of Afro-Cuban jazz to the Blue Note in New six-night run, began last night and lasts until June 15, 2008, including two nights of live recording for the Blue Note label, Half Note Records, on Thursday and Friday, June 12 and 13.
Omar Sosa’s musical trajectory has taken him from Camagüey and Havana to touring in Angola, the Congo, Ethiopia, and Nicaragua in the 1980s; to a sojourn in the African-descent communities of Ecuador in the early 1990s; to an extended presence on the San Francisco Bay Area Latin jazz scene; to his current engagement with artists from Spain, France, Brazil, Cuba, the United States, and several North, West, and East African nations. His career embodies the expansive outlook of a visionary artist who has taken Monk’s uncompromising spirit to heart, while working ceaselessly to craft and project a unique, cosmopolitan voice.
Wanna see Omar Sosa? Tickets cost $15.00 for bar seating and $25.00 for a table. For more information, call 212-475-8592
