me.jpgAs deluded as I can be sometimes, I am not deluded enough to think that I still qualify as “youth”. That’s why the VivirLatino team is thrilled to welcome into the familia, Estevan Montemayor. Estevan, will be repping proud at the Democratic Convention with the Junior Statesmen Association and will be a student correspondent for a few media outlets including VL.

You can check out some of Estevan’s writings at Think Youth.

We are super psyched to have him on board. Join us in welcoming him.

Obama Really Deed It!

Coming at you direct from Jay Smooth (whom many of my girls have an understandable crush on). Makes even me believe in party politics just a little.

splitobamahil.jpgLast night, cable news was abuzz with the fact that the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Barack Obama, was meeting with his one-time rival, Hillary Clinton. The meeting occurred in Clinton’s Washington D.C. home, which the pundits labeled “an act of graciousness” on the part of Obama. The talking heads wondered: were the two meeting alone or were there more people inside the shaded house surrounded by dark windowed vehicles? Would Hillary ask to be Barack’s running mate? CNN made the meeting sound more dramatic than a novela.

But in a dramatic twist, this doesn’t mean that Clinton is closing shop, at least not completely. Apparently, she is only suspending her campaign. This means, that her statewide pledged delegates and district-level delegates remain her delegates, and that in some strange way she’s still labeled “a contender”. Clinton is expected to announce the suspension tomorrow.
