While some call for Hillary Clinton to stop running for president after Tuesday’s primaries in North Carolina and Indiana, others are calling for the calls to stop, saying that many of the calls for Clinton to drop out are based in sexism but for the most of the campaign, race baiting has been happening in the Clinton camp, but now Hillary Clinton herself is embracing her whiteness.
“I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on,” she said in an interview with USA TODAY. As evidence, Clinton cited an Associated Press article “that found how Sen. Obama’s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me.”
“There’s a pattern emerging here,” she said.
I was talking about this yesterday with my uncle and yeah sure there are whites who will only vote for a white person, women who will only vote for a woman, and blacks who will only vote for a black, but does this represent the voting public at large? What about Latinos or Asians? There isn’t a Latino or Asian candidate. So what side do we go to? Some say, not Obama.
According to this analysis, we vote with our skin color, our bloodlines, our genitals, our sexual identities, with everything except our brains. It as if Clinton were leaning in to the constituency she mentions and says to them, “Come on. I know you’re not going to vote for the black guy. Right? Right?”
Is this just a sign of Clinton’s desperation, especially with Obama now holding not just the lead in terms of voters and delegates but also super delegates?
