I think I lost it when ABC played the video of the woman who asked if Barack Obama believes in the American flag. What does that question mean? Like does the flag exist? Was that a philosophical question, like if a flag waves in the wind but no one sees it, does it exist? Or maybe she meant if Obama believed in the flag like kids believe in Santa, the Easter bunny, and the tooth fairy (if I put an American flag pin under my pillow will the flag fairy leave me justice?).
Of course I know that despite the woman saying she wasn’t questioning Obama’s patriotism, she was. After all wearing a flag pin while killing soldiers and civilians in Iraq is uber-patriotic.

While people are still creating controversy about Obama’s non-controversial and really damn true comments about disillusioned small town people ( I went to college in a small former mill town. I’ve seen it), I finally got a little more interested in the debate when it came to the withdrawal of troops in Iraq (both Hillary Clinton and Obama said they would withdraw as soon as they got into office). I was confounded by the whole tax issue, because I didn’t know that a family could make $200,000 and still be considered middle class.

I was extremely concerned about how willing both candidate were to start war if an attack happened on Israel. Hillary Clinton seemed especially emphatic about how severe the consequences would be for Iran (I hear war cries).

Oh and I looooved when Clinton said she made some mistakes that weren’t in line with what she wrote about Bosnia. How the hell do you make the same mistake over and over. When is a mistake a lie? Come on Hillary.

After that, I was pretty much done and went to sleep (hey I make waaay less than $200,000 and had to wake up early today to work.

What were your thoughts? Was there a winner in this debate?
